Drug Interaction Report
1 potential interaction and/or warning found for the following 2 drugs:
- Disotate (edetate disodium (edta))
- remdesivir
Interactions between your drugs
edetate disodium remdesivir
Applies to: Disotate (edetate disodium (edta)), remdesivir
Edetate disodium may cause kidney problems and reduced kidney function in some patients. This may interfere with the clearance of a metabolite of remdesivir as well as an inactive ingredient that is used in its formulation, resulting in their accumulation in the body. Animal studies have found that high blood levels of the metabolite and inactive ingredient can cause kidney problems. It is not known whether these effects may also occur in humans, but the risk of further impairment in kidney function should be considered. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
