- Questran (cholestyramine)
- ursodiol
Interactions between your drugs
cholestyramine ursodiol
Applies to: Questran (cholestyramine), ursodiol
Cholestyramine may interfere with the absorption of ursodiol when they are taken too close together, potentially reducing the effectiveness of ursodiol. Therefore, it is recommended that you take ursodiol at least 1 to 2 hours before, or 4 to 6 hours after cholestyramine to minimize the risk of interaction. If this is not possible, space the time between the dosing of cholestyramine and ursodiol as far apart as you are able. Your doctor may suggest additional monitoring of clinical effects and therapy adjustments if necessary. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take these or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
