Calcium absorption may be increased by taking it with food. However, foods high in oxalic acid (spinach or rhubarb), or phytic acid (bran and whole grains) may decrease calcium absorption. Calcium may be taken with food to increase absorption. Consider spacing calcium administration for at least 2 hours before or after consuming foods high in oxalic acid or phytic acid. Food may affect the absorption of semaglutide when taken orally. It is recommended that oral semaglutide be taken 30 minutes before first food, beverage, or other oral medications of the day with no more than 4 ounces of plain water. You may experience more side effects including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea if you fast longer than 30 minutes after the semaglutide dose.
