Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Cholbam (cholic acid)
- sucralfate
Interactions between your drugs
sucralfate cholic acid
Applies to: sucralfate, Cholbam (cholic acid)
Sucralfate may interfere with the absorption of cholic acid and reduce its effectiveness in treating your condition. You should take cholic acid at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours (or at as great an interval as possible) after sucralfate. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medication without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
sucralfate food
Applies to: sucralfate
When sucralfate is given with enteral (tube) feedings, the feeding tube may become clogged and/or sucralfate may not work as well. You could interrupt the feeding for 1 hour before and after the sucralfate dose. However, this still may not entirely avoid the interaction and may not always be feasible. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Therapeutic duplication warnings
No duplication warnings were found for your selected drugs.
Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
