MONITOR: Aminoglutethimide may significantly decrease plasma digitoxin levels and clinical effectiveness. Aminoglutethimide induces hepatic microsomal enzyme metabolism and clearance of digitoxin.
MANAGEMENT: It is recommended that clinicians monitor for signs and symptoms of digitalis ineffectiveness when aminoglutethimide is added or increased and for signs and symptoms of digitalis toxicity when aminoglutethimide is withdrawn or decreased.
