Adults

Oral, from 90 mL to 180 mL of a 25 to 40 percent solution.

Enema, from 500 mL to 1000 mL of a 15 to 25 percent solution.

Infants and Children

Oral, from 30 mL to 75 mL of a 20 to 40 percent solution.

Enema, from 100 mL to 500 mL of a 10 to 15 percent solution, depending on weight of patient.

Warning

The powder is not to be used for the preparation of solution for parenteral injection.

One level measuring spoon is equal to approximately 10 g of powder.
Solutions may be sweetened or flavored (eg, with vanilla, lemon, chocolate); the diluent may be water, milk, or a carbonated drink. Carbonated diluents should be avoided when gas artifacts are undesirable.
The resulting solution should be used upon preparation; do not store for future use.
