Podophyllum resin topical is systemically absorbed. Topical application of podophyllum resin has induced CNS toxicity ranging from confusion to coma, paresthesia and peripheral neuropathy, seizure, paralytic ileus, and death. Therapy with podophyllum resin topical should be applied cautiously in patients with impaired mental status, peripheral neuropathy, or seizure disorders.
