Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I wanted to write a review to let others know about the fatigue. I see others have similar comments. I'm not going to discourage anyone from the vaccine. If it keeps me from a future outbreak - I'd do it every year. Like others, I am wiped out. Still, I made it to the gym for light workouts. Yes, I'd compare it to light flu symptoms; head and body aches. I had the same with the first dose. Fortunately, I work from home and was functional, just sluggish. And, yes, it's like being punched in the arm - really hard. The injection is not bad. It's the after pain. You'll live. Suck it up and take the vaccine on a Friday. You should be good by Monday."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "62 yo female. Want to be sure to avoid shingles. I knew of and was told by the pharmacist to expect pain more than usual for an injection site. Today is day 5 after 1st injection. I'm doing okay, especially compared to some difficulties I've read about from others. My prominent issue has been the arm... The heat/redness of the muscle area is finally going away. I don't think I was expecting any other symptoms, and thankfully I haven't had them. Maybe only sluggishness and some joint discomfort, but nothing that got me ill. I don't want shingles. Based on what I've read and heard, I may adjust my schedule for the 2nd shot, just in case I run into problems."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "For the first 2 days, I had headache, fatigue, muscle aches, a general feeling of illness and tiredness, low-grade fever, chills, loss of appetite, intestinal discomfort, redness, and soreness at the injection site. Gradually felt better on the 3rd and 4th day. Took a full week to actually feel like myself again! Like others are saying, I am not looking forward to the 2nd shot! Luckily, I had it on a Friday. I plan to have the 2nd shot on a Friday, with no plans for the weekend! I have had a lot of immunizations for my travels around the world, but no reactions anywhere near like this! I am an active, healthy 79-year-old woman on no meds. So far, I am blessed with only having to take daily vitamins and calcium."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant "First dose September 2020, just severe arm pain at the injection site, and a red rash that lasted about 1 week. I couldn't sleep on that side. 2nd dose December 2020, minimal arm pain (the pharmacist squeezed my deltoid where he put the shot in, which the first pharmacist did NOT do), no rash, but mild chills and 99°F temperature, with mild fatigue."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I’m a healthy, active 66-year-old runner. I had an older shingles injection several years ago, and my doctor said I should get this one. With the COVID vaccine around the corner, I wanted to get my scheduled ones out of the way. I got my second pneumonia and first shingles on Saturday at 2 pm on 12/12. Shingles arm felt warm, but I felt fine for about 36 hours. I started taking Aleve immediately. Early Monday morning, I experienced extreme arm pain in both arms and could not sleep. I kept on the Aleve and slept most of Monday, and arms still sore. Tuesday, shingles arm felt better, and so did I. That night, the fatigue returned, and I went to bed early. Wednesday, no Aleve, pneumonia arm still red and swollen, and shingles arm great. I’m scared for the second injection, but I’ll suffer through it, probably after I get the COVID shot. I have Medicare, but it cost $180."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "So far it’s been a two-day disaster. It started 12 hours after the shot. Flu-like symptoms. Body aches. Fatigue. The last 24 hours have been worse. A terrible dizziness set in. Everything is lopsided. I pray it goes away."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I am a 60-year-old male in fairly good health. I received the vaccination at approximately 10:00 a.m., and approximately 8 hours later, I had chills, body aches in all my joints. The onset of the side effects was very quick and escalated at a rapid pace. The next 10 to 12 hours during the evening, I felt like a truck had run over my body. My ears were ringing, my arm that received the vaccination was swollen and aching to the joint. I had a very difficult time sleeping as I felt I was on speed. Upon awakening the next morning, I experienced moderate to severe fatigue, my ears were still ringing, and I felt like I had the flu with all my joints aching. However, I did not register a fever, but I still had chills. I am on vaccine day two and will update my post as things develop."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "57 yo female. First injection. Arm sore. First night awakened by uncontrollable shaking and extreme pain throughout body. Very scary. Thought I may be having a seizure. I was so cold. Could not get warm. Next day, extremely sore and fatigued. Water from shower hurt my skin, like my nerves were damaged. Not getting second one."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I am a healthy 50-year-old female, healthy weight, and taking no medications. I had my first dose of Shingrix at 3:30 pm, and by 6 pm, I started to have sore pain in my arm, the site of the injection. That night at 2 am, I woke up with pain soreness all over my body, it was hard for me to move, though I was in bed laying down. Took acetaminophen, but it did not help. By that morning, I started to have a bad headache (like my head was being squeezed), soreness pain in every single joint of my fingers, and the site of injection started to widen like a big red rash. 26 hours after I received the vaccine, I had chills, shivers, and a fever of 101 degrees. Felt fatigue and went to sleep but had a rough time because of the soreness. That morning (hour 40), I felt a little bit better, still sore but not in my joints like before, still tired but better. Now I am on hour 68, almost 3 days after receiving the vaccine, almost normal but sore arm with the rash."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I received my second Shingrix shot yesterday. The side effects feel worse than my second COVID shot: chills, achy muscles, pain at the injection site, headache, fatigue, brief nausea, and a dry nagging cough. I came on this site to see if anyone else had a dry cough as a side effect. I feel validated by reading a few with cough as a symptom. Although I feel run over by a truck, I would do it again. My husband had shingles and said it was the worst thing he has experienced to date."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "1st dose of Shingrix. 73 yr old. Healthy. Next day felt awful. Arm sore, red, and swollen at injection site. Felt like a truck hit me. Extreme fatigue. Hot and cold. Severe headache. Third day a little better but still achy and fatigued. Didn’t have a reaction to Covid vaccines or any other vaccines except Shingrix. Second Shingrix coming in October, but very reluctant. Will see how long the effects of the first one last."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I gave the vaccine a 6 rating because I can’t rate the effectiveness of a vaccine. That said, the injection was somewhat more painful than I expected, and both the nurse administering it and the info sheet I was given referred to aches, etc. I barely paid attention to warnings and felt totally blindsided by low fever, upset stomach, body aches, and fatigue. I had the shot on Friday afternoon; today is Monday mid-morning, and I feel almost back to normal. Fluids, Advil, rest. I will get the second dose but will plan this time to be out of commission for 3 days. Injection site still red, swollen, hot, but vastly preferable to how I’ve felt in the past 48 hours."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "The fever, muscle ache, headache, and fatigue I experienced as a healthy 63-year-old was significantly worse after the second shot. I tell my friends to get this vaccine when you have a day or two off from work! My husband had shingles a few years ago, and he experienced so much pain that I have been motivated to take preventative measures."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "First dosage went well with only mild soreness at the injection site. Second dosage very different. Extreme soreness in arm, shivering, total body aches, pain, no appetite, extreme fatigue. Like a bad case of the flu plus a very sore arm. But hey, who wants shingles? It is much worse than this."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I had a Shingrix vaccine yesterday at 10 a.m., and it's now 6 p.m. the next day-over 30 hours later-I have been hit very hard. Severe headache, muscle and body aches, extreme fatigue, and malaise. I took yesterday and today off work and may have to take tomorrow off as well. I still have no energy and need to go lie down. I found this site while seeking information and wanted to share with others. Plan ahead when getting this vaccine!"

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I read all the reviews about the Shingrix vaccine and was not looking forward to it. I got my first dose in mid-August 2021. Experienced a sore arm, some fatigue, and a small rash under my arm. All the side effects resolved within 36 hours and did not prohibit me from my regular activities. Received the second dose 20 hours ago, and the only side effect is a slightly sore arm. I was diligent about hydration yesterday and today…I have read that it helps. I am so grateful it is completed. My daughter is battling shingles now and is in horrible pain. I also hydrated well before my high-dose flu vaccine and felt zero side effects."

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "Surely did not expect the severity of the side effects. I have had many immunizations through the years with mild side effects, but was not prepared for these extreme reactions. Fever, chills, headache, upset stomach, general malaise... for two days. Three days later and still have injection site pain and redness. These side effects need to be presented and discussed before immunization. Do not know if I will have the 2nd dose, will wait to see reports or more reviews."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant "I received the vaccine yesterday at about 3 pm. No warnings were given on side effects. My arm feels heavy like lead, severe arm pain, pain in hand, body pains. I feel like I may have caught COVID or I have the flu. I have flu-like shivering, dizziness, and fatigue. It is 5:35 in the morning, I have been awake the whole night. COVID vaccines had not caused any of these problems. Because of these awful side effects, I am worried it could have affected my COVID vaccines, which I had (Pfizer). I had the last Pfizer in May. My first Shingrix shot caused no problems. This second is awful. I would not have had it if I knew I would feel like this. I am 71 years old, and it could have been explained to me that I would feel like this."

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I had chickenpox as a child and got shingles in 2018, when I was in my early 50s. It was the worst experience of my life. I spent over a week in bed. I didn't want to eat, and wearing clothing was not an option. I slept in a separate room from my husband, could not work out, enjoy anything, and did not want to be touched, talked to, or bothered. It was an absolute nightmare. Consequently, I looked forward to the first dose of the vaccine in 2019, exactly one year after I had the shingles. With dose #1, I had a mild fever, and my arm was sore for about a week. I could not get dose #2 when I was due because of COVID, but was finally able to get it 2 days ago. 12 hours later, I did have a severe reaction, including a high fever, intense chills, fatigue, and all-over body aches. I also have pain, redness, swelling, and fever at and around the injection site. My arm, shoulder, and side are still sore today. That said, I highly recommend the vaccine vs. going through shingles!"

Zoster vaccine, recombinant for Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I had the first dose 4/20/2018. The actual injection was pretty painless. I have to say that the side effects were a bit more than I expected. Very sore arm, feverish feeling (off and on hot flashes), fatigue, mild headache - all of which slowly dissipated after a couple of days. It was one of the tougher vaccinations I have had, but it was certainly tolerable. I am 64. I had shingles (mild case) at 39! Didn't want to get it again. I will get the 2nd dose as indicated."
