For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I gave the vaccine a 6 rating because I can’t rate the effectiveness of a vaccine. That said, the injection was somewhat more painful than I expected, and both the nurse administering it and the info sheet I was given referred to aches, etc. I barely paid attention to warnings and felt totally blindsided by low fever, upset stomach, body aches, and fatigue. I had the shot on Friday afternoon; today is Monday mid-morning, and I feel almost back to normal. Fluids, Advil, rest. I will get the second dose but will plan this time to be out of commission for 3 days. Injection site still red, swollen, hot, but vastly preferable to how I’ve felt in the past 48 hours."

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I had my first shingles vaccine with my flu injection in mid-October; the arm soreness was as expected, and I took Tylenol and was able to do my normal activities. Five days ago, I received my second shingles injection in my right arm and my pneumonia injection in the left. That night, my left arm was sore from the pneumonia injection, but no pain in the right arm. The next day, the right arm became swollen, red, hot, and painful with a hard knot at the injection site. I became febrile, achy, and nauseated and stayed in bed for two days. Now, the fifth day, I still feel tired; my arm is still very painful (it feels like I have an abscess where the injection site is). Due to COVID, I am canceling all appointments and engagements just because I don't have proof all of this is because of the shingles vaccine!"

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I had a Shingrix vaccine yesterday at 10 a.m., and it's now 6 p.m. the next day-over 30 hours later-I have been hit very hard. Severe headache, muscle and body aches, extreme fatigue, and malaise. I took yesterday and today off work and may have to take tomorrow off as well. I still have no energy and need to go lie down. I found this site while seeking information and wanted to share with others. Plan ahead when getting this vaccine!"

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "May 2021, had first injection. Within hours, I had pain in my arm. I moved it a lot to try to avoid severe pain I've read about. It seems to help. I was feverish, achy, tired, dizzy, and had blurry vision. By the 3rd or 4th day, I was much better. In July, I just got the second injection. My normal aches and pains are much worse than normal. I'm hot and cold. Woke up sweating, dizzy, and aching. I moved my arm a lot so pain in my arm minimal, very hot and red at the injection site. I'm on the 3rd day after injection, I hope tomorrow I will feel much better."

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I had my first Shingrix injection in Oct 2020, and my arm was a little sore, and my body ached a little. Twelve hours later, I was suddenly hit with intense nausea and immobilizing diarrhea. I have never experienced anything like it, chills too. Symptoms lasted for about an hour, leaving me weak, however, the next day I felt better. Today I just got my second one, and I am hoping it's not as bad, but I have my nausea meds and my heave bucket at the ready. Better than having shingles, though."

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "1st shot in November. Achy, 24-hour mild discomfort, flu-like symptoms. Slept fine. 2nd shot in mid-March. Quite a bit different. Blistering headache, low-grade fever, aching bones and muscles, diarrhea, vomiting, and stayed in bed 30 hours. Had my shot at 10 in the morning, and by bedtime, started to feel crappy. Next morning, bedbound and woke with full side effects. Day 3, headache diminishing, appetite back, still weak but on the mend. Go through the discomfort, way easier than shingles, believe that! Male, 58."

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I had a bad case of chicken pox when I was in 6th grade and didn't want a bad case of shingles as an adult. I got my first dose 5 days ago. This is a sizable quantity of liquid, and the pharmacist shoved it in in about 2 seconds. I would've asked for a slower injection had I known. My arm was super sore for 2 days, that's pretty much gone, but I have felt achy and run down for the last few days, almost like the flu is coming on. I hope it fades quickly. I'm not sure if I'll get the second dose or not. The numbers I saw in a Google search say 2 doses are 76% effective and 1 dose 64%, dropping to 52% after the third year. Not surprisingly, the drug company's website reports much higher numbers. As with any vaccine or medication, you have to consider the pros vs. the cons, there are side effects to everything. Do your own research, always. The medication was entirely covered, my cost was $0."

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I am on my 7th day of severe side effects of exhaustion, body aches, headache, loss of appetite. I won't be getting the second dose; not at this price."

For Herpes Zoster, Prophylaxis "I am 54, female, that decided to get this vaccine since I had chickenpox as a child. That said, I am also a stage 4 lung cancer patient, so I asked my oncologist about getting it, and she said I’m fine to get it if I choose to do so. The first injection, I only experienced tenderness in the arm that I received it in. I got the second one yesterday. The arm that I had it in was so sore I couldn’t even sleep on that side. Then I woke up about 3 AM with the worst headache ever, I don’t even remember getting that kind of headache when there was a tumor in my head (that had metastasized to my brain). The aches and pains, including nausea, are off the chart today. I would still recommend it because I know that this is nothing compared to the pain and long-term effects of shingles. I have taken some ibuprofen, and this does help with the aches and headaches, and fortunately, I have medication for nausea anyway, due to my condition, so I took that as well. So right now, I’m feeling a little better."
