Prometrium (progesterone) for Amenorrhea "This drug is effective at inducing a period, but it has AWFUL side effects. Basically, you will feel pregnant--tired, dizzy, hungry for junk food, and BLOATED. My breasts grew half a size within 3 days of taking. Then the rest of me caught up and I gained 5lbs in the 10 day time frame that I took this drug. But it did do what it was supposed to do, so I can't totally complain."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Uterine Bleeding "I'm 50 and developed simple hyperplasia. Went eight months without a period and then had a three-week period that was very heavy and sent me to the ER for hemorrhaging. Doctor put me on Prometrium 100 mg daily for three months. After just two pills, I was having panic attacks during the day and at night. Could not take it. Current endometrial lining is 8.4mm after three weeks of bleeding, so likely will need a D&C. Will work with a naturopath to have some hormone testing done. It's likely that this dosage is just too high for me, but Prometrium doesn't come in a lower dose than 100 mg."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Progesterone Insufficiency "I am 49 and have been on this medication for one cycle. The side effects have not been as bad as I had anticipated. I had a few mild headaches, and bit of bloating, tender breasts and a mild acne breakout, and was a bit tired a few days. I am taking it for a proliferative endometrium and after 4 days being off the medicine, I am getting a period, so it seems to be working as planned. I am taking 200 mg."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Uterine Bleeding "My doctor is having me take this medication because I have excessive bleeding. So far the bleeding has stopped but I'm on day 10 and the side effects are kicking in. I have breast tenderness, stomach cramps and I makes me very tired. Overall so far it has done what it needs to do. I go off of it in 2 days I'm hoping that my body will regulate."

For Progesterone Insufficiency "I'm on AK pill. My doctor said my weight problems an acne are from having no progesterone to regulate my hormones. An that it made my testosterone too high, which makes it hard to lose any weight. Took last night. Slept great. No bloat, an high energy. I'm happy so far. Can't say I have any bad side effects. I'll check back if I get any negatives."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Seizures "This artical says it's not known what happens with overdose of Prometrium but I can tell you do not take 2 doses at once. I normally take 800mg/day for last 1/2 of my cycle to suppress catamenial seizures. It works great with no negative side effects. I take 200mg every 6 hours. I recently missed a 200mg dose so I took 400mg at once. I was completely anesthesized for a couple of hours. Body went jelly-like. Everything slowed way down to the point that words came too slowly, if at all. Family opted to take me to the ER. Later was determined I was likely not in danger of dying but was clearly knocked out for a while. Memory of much of those 2 hours is totally lost to me. Family says I was pleasant and cooperative but out of it."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I got a hormone test and have low progesterone and high estrogen. I am 48 years young. My new menopause doctor put me on 100 mg of progesterone but I didn't like the side effects. I was really tired and my period started up again. I went off it and feel better. I think I am going natural because I don't think there is a medical reason for taking this. I'm afraid to tell my doctor because I was pressured into it. Nine years ago I took a Depo shot, 15 mins later I fell on my knees on the sidewalk in nyc in a skirt and couldn't stand up for 20 mins. A group of Dominican men called an ambulance for me. The EMS gave me water and I went home. I proceeded to bleed for 3 months after. They also had to give me calcium because it caused bone loss. I'm not saying this is the same, but it is progesterone and unless I have a life threatening illness that requires hormone replacement I think I'm going natural."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Amenorrhea "Prescribed by my gynecologist to treat amenorrhea and long, heavy periods as a result of anovulation (I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which causes anovulation). Due to the anovulation, I would go several months without a period only to eventually have a period which would last anywhere from 14-35 days. The period would be much heavier than the norm, especially for the first 7-10 days. I would also have very large clot-like discharge. I take Prometrium for 21 days, then off for 7 days(which brings on my period). The only significant side effect has been hot flashes during the day, usually in the late morning I will have one bad one with profuse sweating. Then usually one in the afternoon but it's not as bad."

For Gender Dysphoria "I just recently started taking Prometrium and have been really happy with it: breast growth was a really pleasant surprise, considering I've been taking spironolactone and estradiol for almost 6 years. The reduction of anxiety has been fantastic, too, but it can make me really sleepy too"

For Amenorrhea "Ultimate point: progesterone makes me self harm and have suicidal tendencies. I have been on Progesterone three different times. For two years as a teen, I attempted suicide three times. (Depo provera once monthly shot) I didn’t put the pieces together then. For three months at age 22 (Depo provera 3 month shot) Instantly I realized that Depo was the cause and vowed to never take it again. 1.5 years from age 23-25 I was put on the Progesterone only mini-pill. I didn’t realize that Depo and Progesterone were the same drug. I attempted suicide for the fourth time. I’ve since been permanently surgically sterilized."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "First I tried oral prometrium and had an awful experience. Very drowsy the next day, extremely vivid dreams and within two weeks I was depressed. Switched to vaginal prometrium and at first everything was fine. Then I started having panic attacks and high anxiety. I had labs drawn after I missed a few periods, my FSH was suppressed and my progesterone too high. Needless to say I must talk to my Dr about the dose. I never thought progesterone could make you anxious, but it has been awful for me. My progesterone levels were fine for my age in peri menopause- now I have the progesterone levels of a woman trying to conceive! If you do need to take it, take it vaginally not orally! The metabolites can make you feel awful foggy and out of it, but vaginally no issue. Except in my case with the problems of anxiety and suppression of FSH and periods."

For Endometriosis "I've been taking this medication for a year now and was hoping I'd get used to it but no luck. It did initially help with the wicked menstrual cramps I'd get on day 2 (vomiting from pain) but I can't take enough of it due to the side effects. I can only take it on the weekend, then it ruins my whole weekend. I feel tired, dizzy, can't think clearly, clumsy, and kinda drunk. It also stays in my system a really long time, 24-36 hour half life so I'm drunk and dizzy for that long. Bummer because it doesn't make me feel nauseous at all, like the pill does. Still, I may try the birth control pill instead. Can't really function on this and not sure I should be driving, much less working on it."

For Progesterone Insufficiency "I am taking progesterone suppositories to help sustain my pregnancy after a miscarriage due to insufficient progesterone levels. I began taking it at 4 wks pregnant, and am now 9 weeks along. My side effects have included drowsiness, cramping, bloating and upset stomach. A rather unfortunate side effects has also been vaginal itching and dryness that leads to major discomfort for the hour or two after I have inserted the medication. These are little issues that feel big, but in the grand scheme of things, if this medication helps me to have a healthy pregnany and baby, it will be well worth it."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Premature Labor "Early pregnancy loss was a huge issue. I have been on prometrium since day after ovulation. I am 18 weeks pregnant. Drs wanted me to stop at 14 weeks I had extra and continued. I ran out for two days and started having contractions. My Dr decided it was best to stay on prometrium due to evidence of risked preterm labor."

For Endometriosis "Took this medication progesterone post hysterectomy for endometriosis. Made me very drowsy, so was forced to take at night. Also caused extreme depression and fatigue, with groggy feeling in morning. Felt like I wasn't getting enough sleep. Completely got rid of my sex drive, couldn't even get turned on. Stopped talking after a month and feel much better without it."

For Progesterone Insufficiency "The first two years on 100 mg were ok with a very rough 3 month adjustment period of feeling emotionally and physically completely wacked out. After two years I started feeling menopausal symtoms of brain fog again so started taking 200 mg. This is my second month, emotional roller coaster angry outbursts, racing heartbeat, no sleep! I am giving it another month to see if things Will get to normal like before. Maybe I have to go through this every several years, part of getting older."

For Female Infertility "Ok, all these bad reviews... I'm 42 and just found out I'm pregnant, so my doctor put me on it — 200mg vaginal, once a day. It gives me no side effects. None. I've taken it multiple times for weeks on end to help the pregnancy stick over the last few years, and again, no side effects. I hope this one sticks and we get our miracle baby! I'm just writing this so those who are afraid won't be. Just try it."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Progesterone Insufficiency "I am on 100mg dose, days 14-28 of my period or the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. The first month was great, I felt level, the only side effects felt were extreme sugar cravings and vivid, bizarre dreams. However, in month two, no cravings, extreme mood swings and ranging from a need for a lot of sleep, not wanting to get out of bed to anxiety and very little sleep. No pregnancy yet."

Prometrium (progesterone) "Took this for ten days. Started period while still taking it. After my bleeding stopped I had to go to the ER as I was experiencing leg/foot pain and frequent burning urination. Was diagnosed with acute vaginitis at the ER but no one could tell me why I had leg pain. I am still fighting burning urination, and leg pain two weeks after taking the last dose of this medication."

For Endometrial Hyperplasia, Prophylaxis "I was diagnosed 5 months ago with hyperplasia. I had experienced extreme periods with clotting and 7-10 bleeding for over 5 years. I thought this was normal for women approaching menopause, it is NOT. I was also 30-40 Lbs. over weight. My gynecologist put me on progesterone pills and a few months later she did a D&C. She told me my hyperplasia was gone and the best benefit is that i have no periods. I can't say enough about this pill. I am beyond child baring years so no periods is such a bonus!"

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "HRT has been a God send for me. I was recently diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Experienced very painful abdominal discomfort monthly and had very few cycles. HRT was recommended as a low risk starting point for treatment. I sought an all natural organic product that was easy to incorporate into my daily routine. After much research a friend suggested a product and I am feeling better than I have in a really long time. I am using a cream on certain days of my cycle each month and the pain has subsided and my cycle has regulated itself. I am 54 and in perimenopausal and the symptoms of this are minimal as well. I am more than pleased with this treatment and highly recommend it as a low side effect starting point. Using a product that contains a therapeutic amount of progesterone is important for maximum benefit. I am hoping I found a long term solution, because I feel sooo much relief and comfort each month using this HRT cream."
