Iohexol for Body Imaging "I had a CT and Omnipaque, and about 4 hours later, I had extreme anxiety and panic. I couldn't fall asleep - I basically had insomnia. Everything I would think of was bad, like I was going to die. My mind was racing. The next day, I still couldn't sleep, and I tried going outside, and everything in the world seemed NOT REAL! I had depersonalization and crying. I felt like I was going crazy, literally no control over my mind. My next panic/anxiety attack happened about 1.5 weeks later, the day before I was leaving on vacation, and ever since then, I've been having panic attacks, anxiety, depression, blurred vision, stiff neck, constant dizziness, plus when I touch my head, I get a dizzy sensation. My eyes tremble a lot, racing heartbeat, breathing problems, depersonalization, crying from sadness, I forget things, people, and names. My mind sometimes blacks out and forgets what I'm even doing. I know this med caused this, I've never had any of these symptoms before."

Iohexol for Head Imaging "I have lymph node swelling of my neck, so I went in for a neck CT with contrast using 100 cc of Omnipaque 350 intravenously. Felt immediate heat, was fine. Forty-eight hours later, I woke up with lower back stiffness/pain. Then, another forty-eight hours added to that the neck became stiff/painful. I thought it was all a bad mattress. Ibuprofen hardly helps with the stiffness/pain. Messaged the prescribing doctor. I haven't heard back yet. I'm hoping that this goes away! I will update as I get more info."

Iohexol for Body Imaging "Upon injection, I immediately felt a freezing sensation in my vein. I also experienced anxiety and uncontrollable leg shaking. About 30 minutes to an hour later, my back started itching. Over the three days, I noticed swelling in various parts of my face. The most alarming symptom was a rash that spread across my entire body that looked like measles. It was scary."

Iohexol for Body Imaging "Had a precautionary CT scan on my chest several days after hip surgery and after experiencing some pain in my chest. The contrast agent used was Omnipaque 350. About 8 hours later, when lying down in bed, I felt itching on my back, which persisted into the night. On inspection, I could see that a hives-type rash had formed between my shoulder blades. This gradually subsided over about 10 days. Note that the scan showed up a small infection for which I was prescribed a penicillin antibiotic. I took this about 3 hours before the rash appeared, so my doctor changed the antibiotic as a precaution in case that caused the rash. I have never been allergic to penicillin, so in my mind, the Omnipaque remains the culprit."

For Gastrointestinal Tract Examination "Despite having a warning for imaging dyes on my MedAlert Card, the ER doctors ignored that warning and sold me on having a CT scan for a dull lower left GI discomfort, not a much safer MRI. Otherwise, I was fine. The adverse neurologic events began within hours after getting home. On the third day, I suffered a large explosion in my head. I went instantly blind in my left eye due to massive instantaneous retinal/macular pucker/damage (I was 20/20 before. Eyesight never returned). In addition, I suffered vestibular damage, instability, chronic balance disorder, ataxia, severe nightmarish tinnitus that's nonstop, chronic cluster migraine headache with aura, etc., etc. My life became a living nightmare. They do not care, I was nothing but a $ figure to them. I now am bedridden... from being fully active to a severely injured person. My treating physicians at Johns Hopkins fully concur that it was Omnipaque that did it."

Iohexol for Body Imaging "I hate when you think you can trust a doctor. You say you have a little stomach ache, and it turns out they lie in the paperwork so they can put your drugs into our body. Trusting this doctor, hoping he is doing what is going to make you feel better. I am a diabetic 1 and a kidney transplant patient. Not sure my doctor should have used this medicine, damn it! What it turns out to be is he is just running several tests to make hospitals money, not helping you as the patient at all. Just turning you into some type of guinea pig, trying to destroy the precious kidney your husband of 43 years donated to you so we can enjoy more loving years together. Hey, drug companies, grow up, use your new drugs on yourself and let us alone. Very unhappy that tests are being done on people like me that shouldn't have any additional drugs because my blood tests are in range. Goodbye."

For Body Imaging "I had two injections in my L4 & L5 separated by one month. The first injection was so painful I opted for sedation the second time. The assistant gave the IV sedative just a second before the procedure started, so I knew there was no way this was going to work. The same doctor did the second injection, and all he could say was that he was sorry while the whole crew was talking about food day. I was in horrific pain. It's been three days since the second injection, and my hip and leg pain is exactly as it was when I went in. I think this is just a hoax to get money from Medicare and personal insurance. I am so angry about the whole experience. I can't wait to get my survey."

For Urography "In March 2023, my urologist decided he needed to look into the cause of my hematuria (bleeding) in my urine. He ordered a CT urography with iohexol. During the infusion into my arm, I had no serious reactions, although I noticed an inrush of strong heat sensation in my sternum area and my chest. Later that evening, around 10 hours later, I started having strange painful heartburn sensations, lots of belching, and a weird chemical taste in my mouth. It has been 4 days, and all these issues continue. The heartburn or pain is waking me from sleep every night, it's very strong. I have never had heartburn, I'm 65 years old. I'm calling my doctor, but I'm not confident about what they'll be able to do. I wish I never had this test, as I know other tests can be done to diagnose blood in the urine."

Iohexol for Body Imaging "I had a CT done, they used Omnipaque 350. I've never been the same since. I have chronic headaches, blurred vision, soreness and stiffness in my entire body, a feeling of dying, a feeling of something bad going to happen, dizziness, my eyes have my vision jumping up and down, rapidly, constantly crying, a feeling of dread, my bones hurt, muscles ache, stiffness and pain in my jaw. I wake with chronic headaches and a pounding heart beating rapidly, and when I was able to sleep, much insomnia. I had a horrible rash on my chest from neck to breast to shoulders. Now my records indicate that I am allergic to contrast dye."
