"One drop was dropped into my eye in pre-op to dilate my eye for cataract surgery. It felt like acid being put into my eye. Then a few minutes later, my chest felt like someone had their foot on me. Then I felt dizzy and weak, like I could fall through the chair onto the floor. My vitals went from 127/84 to 155/98. I started to feel spaced out and drunk. I was put on oxygen, and my surgery was canceled, and I was sent to an ER for evaluation. The Eye Center thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out all my blood tests came back normal, including EKGs and chest X-rays. I told all of them that this was an allergic reaction to this drug, and they all disagreed with me and said that this drug would not do that. Well, they were WRONG. I am home and fine without the surgery and an extra $250 ER copay now."
