For Urinary Tract Infection "I've taken a lot of antibiotics in my life, and I've never had a bad reaction. I took one dose to treat a UTI and had extreme joint pain (mostly knees), dizziness, ear ringing, etc. Thought I was crazy till I googled it and found that this isn't uncommon. A day later I still feel horrible - spaced out, weak legs, etc. Do not take this and tell your friends and family."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Everyone reacts differently to medications. For me, Cipro is always a fast-acting antibiotic. I've only taken it a few times for severe UTIs/kidney infections, and it helped tremendously within the first few days. With the amount of pain I've gotten from UTIs, I'd be willing to risk the crazy side effects that some people have had. I rarely take antibiotics unless I have to. This one will treat just about anything, and I've only experienced a few minor side effects like nausea, dizziness, agitation, headache, fatigue, and stomach upset. Nothing too crazy."

For Bladder Infection "I took Cipro for 5 days. It made me sick! I had nausea, body aches, chills, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness! My UTI is gone. I took the last pill 2 days ago, and the drug hasn't completely left my body yet! I'm not taking Cipro ever again!"

For Bladder Infection "On holiday in Florida (from Canada) and got UTI after many years with no problems. Cipro was prescribed, and although it has helped, the side effects are almost unbearable! My joints ache, I'm dizzy and nauseous, can't get to sleep, and had terrible abdominal and vaginal pain. Also, you can't have dairy or any vitamins 2 hours before to 4 hours after taking the meds. If this had been my family doctor instead of the doctor's PA at the walk-in clinic, I'd certainly give him an earful!! I'm only halfway through the course of meds (required a full 10 days) and will make note of this medicine so that I will NEVER take it again!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "After reading the good and bad reviews, I thought I would give it a go. Never again! I was okay for about 2 days. On the third day, I couldn't stop vomiting, I felt like I couldn't breathe properly, and was dizzy. Just thinking about these tablets one year on, and I feel nauseous!"

For Kidney Infections "Yeah, was almost hospitalized for kidney infection, felt like you wanted to pee badly and right side of kidney hurting. I have never felt that in my life, this infection what I'm going through right now. I'm stubborn for not taking the pills. A few days of not taking them, that pain came back but not as bad as before. Anyways, I started taking the pills again because the infection is still there. I thought I was cured, guess I'm not, so I took them pills again, pain vanished 20 minutes, but my infection is slowly going away, but just a few side effects: dizzy, ab pain. Just one thing this doc told me: don't eat with the cipro, no coffee, no pop, no alcohol - just take it with water. This infection is terrible, I am thankful for ciprofloxacin, as I was just hurting badly an hour ago, and now I feel a bit fine now. Only 3 pills to go, but I feel I need more just so this pain does not come back."

For Kidney Infections "Got diagnosed with my third kidney infection in two months, nothing seems to make it go away. Have been taking 500 mg twice a day for 3 days now, and I still have pain in my side, and the side effects are nasty. Bad nausea, acid reflux, and dizziness are making me have to sleep with a bowl next to my bed. But hey ho, if it works, it's a small price to pay. Not impressed right now though."

For Crohn's Disease, Active "I have Crohn's disease. I sometimes get intestinal infections. I cannot take Flagyl, but I can take Cipro. Cipro always helps clear up my intestinal infections. I don't get sick, dizzy, diarrhea, or any side effects. It's too bad it makes some people sick because it has great potential for killing many bacteria."

For Prostatitis "This is one of those drugs where the cure is almost as bad as the disease in my case, but it does work. I was prescribed a two-week course of Cipro (500 mg twice daily). Four days into treatment for prostatitis, I'm finally able to urinate again without standing around for what feels like forever, and most of the major symptoms are fading. However, the side effects of Cipro are a little ugly. Brain fog, dizziness, fatigue, increased heart rate, and insomnia are the ones I've been going through. I'm rating Cipro fairly high because it is working for me, I'm just going to have to slog through the side effects for another 10 days."

For Sinusitis "Where do I begin? I took it for a sinus infection and not the recommended twice daily, but only once per day because I couldn't tolerate it more than that. My face and body felt like it was on fire, and my skin coloring was red like I was burning up on the outside and inside. I had nausea, diarrhea, ear and throat itching, mind alteration (couldn't comprehend things like normal), skin puffiness/swelling, stomach pain, taste distortion, high pulse rate, dizziness, fatigue, weight gain, decrease in appetite, frequent burning urination, and even a stuffier nose than when I started it. Now it is in my chest and in my nasal cavities. I just want to feel better. This is awful!!!!"

For Sinusitis "I took 2,500 mg total over the course of 3 days, which consisted of a 500 mg dose twice a day. On the third day, I stopped my treatment after feeling extremely tired and fatigued from just the simplest of chores. Side effects I suffered are weakness, internal vibrations, depersonalization, immense dread, fear, depression, suicidal thoughts, nerve pain, tingling sensations, out-of-body sensations, memory loss, eye strain, dry eye, ear pressure, stomach problems, stiff joints, balance issues, and that's all been on and off since I stopped taking the cipro. Many have been impacted in a negative way by this drug. Please, if you have the option, go take another antibiotic that is not a fluoroquinolone. I beg you to think twice about glancing over the warnings that come with your medication because this drug is no joke and can cause serious harm! I'm a year out, and in some aspects, I have improved, but in others, I'm still healing and looking forward to the day I'm back to my previous bill of health."

For Epididymitis, Sexually Transmitted "Took it for a possible bacterial epididymitis. It took the pain down after one day, but I already had bad side effects from it right away. Swollen, sore calves, left knee injury got worse and swollen, dizziness, lightheadedness, warm feeling, lower abdomen pain. Took it for 2 days, then stopped. The testicular pain is about 90% gone. Mine was Cipro XL once a day for 1000 mg."

For Bladder Infection "I caught a urinary tract infection after being sick from stomach flu/virus and was prescribed Cipro (500 mg). After one pill in the evening, I became tired, went to bed, and woke up anxious, depressed, restless, with loss of balance. I've had antibiotics (amoxicillin, I think) once in the past, but never had anything like this kind of reaction. Waiting for a call from my doctor for a different medicine."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Began taking this medicine when I was in pain for a strong UTI. This medicine has made me feel the worst I've ever felt in my life. Constantly throwing up, extremely high fever (104), dizzy, confused, blurred vision, chills, insomnia, and the most painful back, ribs, neck, and leg pain. As well, it makes you urinate less frequently, and that put together with not being able to hold down water, how is this supposed to make me 'better'? I have never been one who is sensitive to medication, but due to the amount of dehydration and pain I've been caused, I'm currently sitting in a hospital hooked up to an IV. I wouldn't suggest this medication to anyone, ever."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed co-ciprofloxacin for a urinary tract infection. I took one pill, and within a few hours, I became beet red all over my body, as if I had been sitting in the sun for hours. My face was scarlet, and I was itchy all over, and I was constantly scratching and applying creams, but to no avail. I have lupus and MS, and my joint pain is worse as a result of the drug. I have always had beautiful skin, a peaches-and-cream complexion, and almost no wrinkles or lines in my face. After taking only one pill, I now have wrinkles and lines, it completely destroyed my skin. I also have balance issues directly caused by the drug. I have dizziness in the morning when getting out of bed. I am going to talk to a lawyer."

For Bacterial Infection "I decided to try Cipro for UTI (urinary tract infection). Knowing all of the side effects, I got myself the 'FQ toxicity pack' (Q10, magnesium, vit E, probiotics) first. Had no coffee or Advil for several days in advance. I took 1 500 mg pill, with Pepto Bismol, after dipping it into olive oil (sad experience with Septra). Within an hour, my blood pressure dropped to 99/75, stomach started to go bubbly, then I got dizzy, relaxed, and sleepy. This kind of how I feel on Xanax. Next, I started to have shooting burning pains in my both arms, and my right arm felt irritated when I lightly touched it. Some weakness and alienation in arms and legs. Strong rapid heartbeat later that night. I thought it all was heading to neuropathy and decided to stop there. But!!! The symptoms were somewhat gone even after 1 pill! So, it is a great potent drug, just not for me, unfortunately:("

For Kidney Infections "I was prescribed Cipro for my kidney infection two nights ago. Yesterday, I had an allergic reaction to the Cipro. I was feeling all of the side effects: dizziness, headache, nausea, lightheadedness; also had loss of appetite. My throat had swelled up due to this medication, so no other medication went down my throat, and luckily I hadn't eaten solid foods. Because it had swelled up, I also could not breathe normally. I had constant shortness of breath. I revisited the health center and was told that I had an allergic reaction to this med and that this medication is not recommended whatsoever since it is outdated. Beware if you are given Cipro; I would suggest having it swapped out for another medication. I could have easily died if I took another dose, and if my throat swelled up even more, I wouldn't be able to catch a breath. I really feel lucky that I got the help quickly."

For Epididymitis, Sexually Transmitted "My epididymitis was not an STD, I thought that straining a muscle to keep urination caused it. The first week of anti-inflammatory drugs did not work. Then I started Cipro. On the 8th day, pain was significantly reduced. After two weeks, it was completely erased. Side effects of Cipro that occurred to me were a little bit of dizziness and indigestion."

For Prostatitis "Was prescribed this medicine for my own self-diagnosis of prostatitis since I told my doctor that my symptoms related mainly to it, so he called me in cipro without any further testing. Don't remember the dose, but I think 250-500 mg twice a day for two weeks. At first, I felt fine until like 5 days into it I got diarrhea, sharp stomach pains, headaches, dizziness, itching, or pin-like feelings, and today I called and asked if I could stop it because of the nausea, and I can't sleep well, and it makes me feel weak. So I've officially stopped it. Had feelings of anxiety as well. First time taking it, and I hope I don't have to ever again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I had a recurrent UTI for several months that did not respond to Amoxicillin (because the third culture came back as Pseudomonas bacteria, which is a stubborn infection). I am allergic to Bactrim and was forced to take Cipro rather than be hospitalized for IV treatment. I don't like the side effects of this drug---dizziness, anxiety, burning sensation on skin, nausea, brain fog, body aches, and more. I am basically bedridden for 5 days when on this. I was prescribed 500 mg 2x daily, but I could never tolerate that high amount and break the pills in half for 250 mg 2x a day. It causes panic attacks in people who are prone to that, which I am. It is very depressing to use this drug. It works, but you pay a high price if you get the side effects. (age 70). I doubt I can go through this again and would prefer to be hospitalized and given some benzodiazepines, painkillers, and food service in addition."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Dr. started me on this because of UTI. By the 3rd day, I had extreme back pain. I could not walk without my back going out. I also couldn't pee or poo. I have Crohn's, and my stomach got so distended I got stretch marks. By the fourth day, plus my left leg and both sides of my groin were also extremely painful. I also got dizzy, panic attacks, and blurry vision. I will never take this med again! I think it tried to kill me."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed 500 mg, twice a day, for 3 days. I took the first pill and the second pill 12 hours later. I was able to eat and drink plenty of water. I felt awesome, and my minor UTI felt 100% better. I got to work, ate soup, came home after taking the 3rd pill, and began to have extreme stomach pain 2 hours later. I then began to have diarrhea, and then I started vomiting everything I had eaten that day. I tried drinking water and ginger ale to calm my stomach and keep liquids in, and whatever I drank I would wind up vomiting it out. It was horrible because I couldn't keep anything down. I couldn't walk and had to crawl around because I was so dizzy. I called the urgent care that prescribed them to me, and they told me to stop taking them. The body chills and aches are affecting me, and I still don't have an appetite. They prescribed me Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin), so we will see how that goes, but I will never take ciprofloxacin again."

For Kidney Infections "Day 2, three tablets down, about to take my second one and last one for the day. I'm an anxious person generally, so of course I looked up the side effects... The ones I've experienced are extreme nausea, bloating, gas, feverishness, dizziness, hot and cold sweats. But only three tablets in, and it's helping a lot with the pain in the kidneys on and off, though. Got to say the nausea is the worst part, I'm practically bedbound. Most of this is probably due to how bad my infection, but it got worse after taking ciprofloxacin."
