Benralizumab "I have been on Fasenra for approximately 18 months now. The first year, it really helped and my breathing was much better. Beginning in January of the second year, I noticed a lot of stiffness in my joints to the point it became hard to walk and do normal things around my home. I am almost 81 years old and unsure if I should be taking any more Fasenra in the future."

Benralizumab "This is my third year taking Fasenra. Towards the end of last year, I started experiencing joint pain and stiffness in my wrists, shoulders, elbows, and ankles. I have had an excellent improvement in my overall quality of life before this. I am disappointed as I am active and run my farm, however, since experiencing joint pain, I need to take pain relief and some days prednisone."

Benralizumab "My first dose did not go as well as the other med I was taking. Not an allergic reaction but I was very tired, a bit disoriented, and felt 'weird.' They called the doctor into the infusion room. Trying it again and will have to stay two hours instead of one. I like the other med much better. I had an extreme reduction in attacks on that one. Insurance would not pay and my copay was $2.00. Fasenra is $75 for each infusion."

"With Fasenra, I began to live again, before it seemed to me that I was dying from lack of air, wheezing, whistling, and constant debilitating cough and annual operations on the sinuses of the nose. But after 3 months of using the drug, panic attacks began with tachycardia and increased blood pressure, congestion in my head, and general poor health. But everything is fine with the respiratory system, I quit prednisolone, there are fewer respiratory diseases, and most importantly, I breathe. What to do next, I do not know?"

"I have been on this medication for 9 months. Initial dosage was 30mg each month for 3 months and then 30mg every 8 weeks, self-administered. This medication has been very successful in reducing my asthma symptoms. It has successfully increased my peak flows from 350 to now an average of 470 and at times 550 daily. Treatment has reduced to 2 puffs twice a day of budesonide 4.5mg + 2 puffs of tiotropium 4.5mg. It has successfully prevented the formation of mucus in my lungs. I no longer need my blue inhaler, however, the only drawback has been slight swelling of my ankle and knuckle joints together with a very itchy rash, yet to be resolved."

"I've severe eosinophilic asthma and other lung diseases. I've been on Fasenra for over 2 years. It's helped my asthma a lot. I'd not like to be without it! It has a knock-on effect and reduces symptoms of other lung diseases, as I'm not dealing with constant inflammation. I was told 15 months ago by a specialist that without it, my life expectancy would only be 12-18 months, so it's saved my life, literally. The problem I do have with it - it wears off 2 weeks before the next injection and then takes near a week to work, so I'm only benefiting for 5 weeks out of 8. The 3 weeks are very hard, having been a lot better for 5 weeks. It's disappointing."

Benralizumab "Fasenra has been a lifesaver for me... LITERALLY!!! I was sick all the time and on steroids every day of my life until I started taking Fasenra! I thank my doctor every time I see her for getting me on this! I take one injection every 8 weeks."

"Started it August 2024 fairly quickly after seeing a specialist. It’s life-changing, I haven’t needed steroids, my inhaler dose has been reduced, and my stamina and ability to do physical stuff like walking have drastically increased. I can now walk briskly up four flights of stairs without breathlessness or wheezing. Cold air and dust may still make me wheeze, but you’d need a stethoscope to hear it now, whereas before you could hear me coming by the wheeze and cough. I still have to use my Fostair, but the dose is halved as well as the frequency, which is down to one puff morning and evening, and occasionally if I wheeze."

Benralizumab "I have received three injections so far, and since the third injection, I have had edema in my feet and legs and heaviness in my chest, although my breathing is better. I am hoping the swelling goes away because I think this shot has helped my sinuses, and I hope my breathing continues to get better."

Benralizumab "Started taking it last August and have now had 4 injections and now give them to myself. Huge improvement in my asthma, no more steroids during this time, and I’m even forgetting to use my inhalers because my chest is so much better (not that they make a difference anyway!) I still wheeze in cold air, dusty atmospheres, and when walking, but now you would need to use a stethoscope to hear it, whereas before anybody could hear me coming. My stamina from walking is improving, and gradually I’m able to do more again. My peak flows are back up to 450-500, whereas they were down to 250. I no longer cough up yellow sputum and feel well."

Benralizumab "One reason why you shouldn’t use this drug: Eosinophils are one type of white blood cell. Eosinophils help protect your body from harmful bacteria, as well as from parasites that can steal important nutrients from your body. Eosinophils are formed in the bone marrow, then released into the blood. If you eliminate them, you might not be immunologically protected. Pharma companies just care about how much money they will make."

Benralizumab "I have started this self-injectable about a year ago. Nature girl at heart did not want this nuclear option, but now can't imagine life without it. Changed my life from steroids and nonstop coughing, not being able to walk or exercise for the past 8 years to being able to do all of it. Doing Pilates. Did notice on week 5 starting to feel some symptoms, chest feels tight, but no coughing or shortness of breath. I don't ever want to go back to inhalers as they did not work at all anyway, so hope Fasenra is not going to have some unknown long-term side effect because basically there is currently no other method of controlling eosinophilia."
