Lymph Node Biopsy


A lymph node biopsy is done to remove all or part of a lymph node. A group of lymph nodes may also be removed.


Contact your healthcare provider if:

  • You have a fever or chills.
  • You have swelling, severe pain, and redness at your biopsy site.
  • You have bleeding or drainage from your biopsy site.
  • You have questions or concerns about your condition or care.

Wound care for your biopsy site:

Keep your wound clean and dry. You may not be able to take a shower for up to 2 days. Ask your healthcare provider when you can take a shower.

Follow up with your healthcare provider as directed:

You may need more tests. Write down your questions so you remember to ask them during your visits.
