Uses of Rocaltrol:
- It is used to control low blood calcium levels in certain patients.
- It is used to treat high parathyroid hormone levels in certain patients.
- It may be given to you for other reasons. Talk with the doctor.
What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take Rocaltrol?
- If you have an allergy to calcitriol or any other part of Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution).
- If you are allergic to Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution); any part of Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution); or any other drugs, foods, or substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
- If you have any of these health problems: High calcium levels or too much vitamin D in the body.
- If you are breast-feeding. Do not breast-feed while you take Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution).

- If you take cholestyramine, talk with your pharmacist about how to take with Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution).
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution) while you are pregnant.
How is this medicine (Rocaltrol) best taken?
Use Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution) as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.
- Take Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution) at the same time of day.
- Take with or without food.
- Measure liquid doses carefully. Use the measuring device that comes with Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution). If there is none, ask the pharmacist for a device to measure Rocaltrol (calcitriol oral solution).
What do I do if I miss a dose?
- Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it.
- If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time.
- Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

What are some side effects that I need to call my doctor about right away?

- Signs of high calcium levels like weakness, confusion, feeling tired, headache, upset stomach and throwing up, constipation, or bone pain.

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if you have any side effects that bother you or do not go away.

- Store at room temperature.
- Protect from light.

- Throw away unused or expired drugs. Do not flush down a toilet or pour down a drain unless you are told to do so. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions about the best way to throw out drugs. There may be drug take-back programs in your area.
