I have had severe insomnia for years and years, and nothing seems to help except for benzodiazapines, which I already take alprazolam for panic attacks, and my doctor doesnt want to increase.Temazopam and dalmane helped me in the past, but my dr wont prescribe, so I am tryng to find an alternative that actually works.Ambien I have taken, but only makes me sleep for a couple of hours, and then I wake up.I have taken trazadone, by itself and I didnt notice anything. I was wondering if together, they might help?
Can you take trazodone and ambien together?

Yes I think using both will help
I take 2 mg Xanax , 10 mg flexeril, 10 mg Ambien, trazodone, abilify, adderall, opioids... I’m still alive!!! lol
Ambien and trazadone works for me . I usually take 200 trazadone and 10 milligrams of ambien. They all work great but you must stay in that bed and keep your door locked so you've won't sleepwalk. Keep your phone away as well. In the morning you may feel like shy but it sure does work.
How long have long have you been doing them. And what are other side effects
it wouldn't be safe to take the two before bedtime without talking to your dr first
my doctor prescribed me the two together. its fine. eat up.
I haven't been prescribe to take them together. However I find one does what the other doesn't. Ambien will put me out for 3 or four hours. Whereas Desryl with help me sleep a lot longer with food. So I wonder if I should take Ambien first and when I wake up have bowl of cereal and milk or small snack and take the Desryl?
it is questionable but i used to take them both what i would do is take the ambien theyn right before i went to sleep i would take the trazodone. im not saying you should do this but when i took them this is how i did it and i never had any bad reactions
I would not personally take the two together again because it left me so zombified the next day with a killer migraine headache. Trazadone is too hard on my head.
Hi, have you tried Amben12.5.? I notice when taking with benzodiazepine together the extend of the sleep as effect of ambien i someway limited to 3-4 hrs. What I do in my night table has 1 mg. of klonoping and I taked it and go to bed again and I sleep untill 9-10 am, I read this from a book and really works. Good Luck and take care.

Hello Dawn,
I have taken the two together and single and found that trazodone works better without ambien, for me anyway. However, we are all different and what works for one may not work for another. Ambien has really never helped me fall asleep, or stay asleep past three hours. Also keep in mind with trazodone you must eat something small such as a cracker etc to get the full benefits from trazodone and with ambien you need to take it on an empty stomach for full benefits. Hope this has helped ... pamee
I don't think that it would be a good idea to do that!
Hello happybrandee, I should have mentioned to Dawn that she should talk with her doctor about it, but now she can read it here lol.

Does this happen the next day after you have taken them before sleep? I'm not quite clear on effects and how long they last. Can it still effect you essentially 10 hours later? Because i can't imagine why anyone taking them when they have to function/work etc.
Thanks for your input ... freddie2shoes
I have taken Trazadone and Ambien together. I know first hand that that combination can cause terrible things to happen. I have never been in trouble with the law. I'm now being charged with 2 counts of shoplifting. I had horrible insomia and after 18 months of 2-3 hours of sleep a night I took 100 mgs. of Trazadone and 10 mgs of Ambien and the next day I drove to the store and forgot to pay for a couple of items. I don't remember anything that day until around 4 pm when I woke up in jail. Not realizing that the "blackout" I experienced was from the combination of those two drugs a couple of months later I took the two drugs again. Same exact reaction happened again. I started doing research on both drugs and on the combination of the two together. I was shocked to find out that the combination has caused shoplifting and a few cases of murder. Needless to say I threw the Ambien away. What I don't understand is why the pharmacist didn't warn me not to take the two drugs together.
Your just a thief. That's crap
