Has anyone had experience of drinking alcohol whilst taking propranolol. I’ve just been prescribed 10mg x 3 times a day and am concerned from what I’ve read but am about to go on holiday and don’t know whether it would be ok or not.
Can you drink alcohol whilst taking propranolol?

That’s a good question. I am on a similar dose of 10mg 2 times per day, and I’ve pretty much quit drinking alcohol all together. I do occasionally have a glass of wine or a bottle of beer on a holiday or special occasion, but I will be brutally honest, the alcohol and propranolol made me extremely tired/fatigued when mixed. Like too tired to function as a productive human being. We are all different, but I no longer mix the two. Your experience may vary, but I would tell you to really be careful. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!
Interactions between your drugs
Moderate
propranolol ethanol
Applies to: propranolol, Alcohol (contained in alcoholic beverages) (ethanol)
Propranolol and ethanol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
