I just got prescribed 20mg of propranolol for my panic attacks. I’m scared to take it because I don’t want it to make them worse or cause my heart to feel weird. I have normal BP 117/72 is my normal. I’ve heard this med can cause dizzy and make it hard to breathe in which will make my panic attack worse. Does it work for panic attacks? Mine are the kind that make me faint sometimes and shake and make it hard to breathe
Propranolol - I’m nervous to take my new prescription propranolol for panic attacks?

I felt exactly the same way the first time I took propranolol. I would recommend taking 10mg to see how you feel. 10mg is a relatively small dose. This is one of the most well studied drugs in the world, and it’s been around since the 1960’s. Clearly, your doctor thought it would benefit you and help your panic attacks. I can tell you from my experience, it just really relaxes me. It allows my body to physically slow down when I have bad anxiety. We are all different, but you won’t know how it works until you try it. Most of the side effects I’ve read about have happened to people at higher doses for HBP, think 80-120mg. I hope this helps a little bit. Give an update after you take it. “Better living through chemistry,” I always tell myself. Good luck to you.
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words will update once I try it (:
