Especially when taking Ambien at night before, does taking Effexor XR in the morning exacerbate the feeling of sleepiness and sluggishness at midday and afternoon? Would taking the Effexor at night work better, or should the two not be taken close together?
When is the best time of day to take Effexor XR?

Generally the morning is recommended but as long as you are consistent then you can check and find which is best for your body.
I take 150mg in the morning and feel slightly weird after taking it and the 75mg at night makes me not sleep which makes me more anxious it's a catch 22 personally I think morning is best . But everybody's different good luck. X
I personnally would try it in the morning first if it does make you to tired then you can ask your doctor what would be the best way to switch to taking it at bedtime. I wouldn't drive or do anything hazardous until you find what works best for you. Good luck
Take in morning with your breakfast
I have been on Effexor XR for 3 years. My doctor told me the best time to take it is in the morning. I never ask why but maybe you could ask your Pharmacist. Cherie
Definitely ask your doctor about this. Everyone is different.
From what I know, I THINK Effexor XR might have something in it that is supposed to help with energy throughout the day. I KNOW it should be taken at the same time every day for it to work the best for you. I have always taken it in the morning (if that helps any... )
Good luck, and don't forget to talk to your doctor! :)
When I was on Effexor, my doc recommended taking it in the morning because it didn't make me tired, just a little wired. Everyone reacts differently to their meds. As far as taking it at night, I wouldn't think it would be a problem. Check with your doc first. Good luck to you and hope the meds are helping.
