Cymbalta can be another choice:
Cymbalta is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant (SSNRI). Duloxetine affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression.
Cymbalta is used to treat major depressive disorder in adults. It is also used to treat general anxiety disorder in adults and children who are at least 7 years old.
Cymbalta is also used in adults to treat nerve pain caused by diabetes (diabetic neuropathy), or chronic muscle or joint pain (such as low back pain and osteoarthritis pain).
Cymbalta is also used to treat fibromyalgia (a chronic pain disorder) in adults and children at least 13 years old.

This med could be an option, I suggest you ask your DR. about the possibility of giving a try.
I had MDD, and I currently have fibromyalgia. I took duloxetine and other ssris and snris for many years. Yes, they do indeed help some people with pain, I know that second hand from my fibromyalgia group, but unfortunately it did nothing for me except cause horrific side effects. I will no longer ever take any SSRI, snri or really any antidepressant. Not unless something new comes along and I develop depression again.
But this is another good option for the original poster, I agree. I think most doctors would start with Gabapentin, and if that doesn't work try out duloxetine or even low dose naltrexone.
I am truly sorry this med as it sounds promising didn't work for you.
Is gabapentin working for you?
Thank you.
Yes, the Gabapentin is working for my peripheral neuropathy, but not for my fibromyalgia. For that, Tramadol seems to help me pretty well. However, the medications are just a small part of my overall toolkit for managing my fibromyalgia. I believe that the foundation for good health or the treat a disease like mine is sleep, activity and diet. In addition, I employ all sorts of techniques at home ranging from stretches and exercises to heat therapy and so much more.
Again, thank you so much for your kind words.
Please don't thank me, it really kills me to see someone with FM, someone very close to me has this condition so I know a bit about it, massages I give her with Voltaren gel helps her along with Lyrica and ketoprofen, seems to work for a while.
All the best and keep going, I tell you this, not to give up, because I suffer from bipolar disorder and for the past 15 years I have suffered from severe insomnia and on top of that I am treatment resistant, but we never give in, just sharing, thought it may be comforting knowing you are not alone!!!
Gabapentin
