I hate the anxiety and tiredness it causes. I feel very old and out of it yet I am only 33 years old. I prefer to go back to my original regimen of: Amlodipine 10 mg, Quinapril 20mg, and a water pill (HCTZ)
I want to wean myself off of this metoprolol succinate er 25mg. how best should this be done?

Do the meds you ate taking have any effect on your sex life.New to bp meds and having problems with impotence.Taking that same water pill.
Rio,
Have at it as long as you notify your docs first.Should be no w/ds since there pills are only a beta-blocker.
Olease let your docs know how you feel and what you want.

The Sweetest Hippie
My sweetest Hippie friend is so right! Maybe it is something completely different that is causing you to feel this way. I vote for talking to your physican first also. As you see another member is taking the same med & has none of the side effects you list. I take a beta blocker also to slow down my heart rate of 140 to about 80 or so, & help with my arrthmyia from a prolapse mitral valve. It does not but slow my heart rate, & keep the flutters away. It actually makes me calmer because I don't feel like the next fluuter may be my last! Best of luck to you, but please don't stop your med until you speak with your doc. He may have an idea or a change of meds if he feels this is causing you to feel this way...
Question i was put in metro er beta blocker 12.5 mg at bedrime to lower too
# of bp I read that if i come off as now the heart is working at 80% the muscle gets weak and when i am without it and heart is working at 100^ puts u at risk of heart attack is this true or internet false info even if im in it for 1-2 months only??
The best way to stop any meds is a slow and measured reduction in the amount and frequency of the medication that you are taking. I am taking the very same medication Metoprolol 25 in the morning and 25 in the evening but for high blood pressure. Just go slow with it and when you finish with the metoprolol start your other meds. Your Dr should have all the answers you need for doing this. But I have not had the symptoms you report but we are all different. I have not known very bad withdrawal symptoms in this well not as bad as the narcotics. So just take it easy and do it as your DR says and you should be fine. Good Luck to you!
