I am on amlodipine 20mg, lisinopril 40 mg, metoprolol succinate 50 mg and instead of blood pressure stabilizing it is swinging even more wildly out of control. The doctor keeps adding more antihypertensive with increasing side effects. I know this is not helping me. I do not know what to do. I watch my diet, maintain my weight, have not exercised much in past 5 mos since pandemic, blood pressure keeps elevating to over 202/ 101 after fasting for a colonoscopy and it refuses to go down more than 20 points since I have rehydrated and resumed food intake.
The more antihypertensive prescribe the more out of control my high blood pressure becomes. Why?

First ask your Dr to check for other underlying illness which might be causing your hypertension and which can be corrected.
Second is of course diet. More veggies in the diet will correct any chronic health problems.
Third is exercise. A 30 minute walk after dinner can really do wonders.
Try also beetroot 1000mg as supplement. It has done wonders to my BP. 124/82 from 150up. Of course better to consult with your Dr first.
You need a better cardiologist. I have malignant hypertension and had an iliac artery-bypass by two cardiologists. I take quite an assortment of pills including the two you mention. My blood pressure is in a perfect zone. Which is accredited to the skills of my main cardiologist in finding medicine that works for me.
Hello dear. Sorry you are experiencing this difficult situation. You probably need to be evaluated for other causes of hypertension which may even be treatable . Also you should keep up the lifestyle modifications like diet and exercise,it helps. How old are you? And do you have a family history of hypertension?
