I'm no medical professional, but here's what I've been told. I had Afib about 4yr ago and was prescribed Flecainide (to help irregular rhythm) and Metoprolol Succinate (to control heart rate). My husband takes it for HBP. Metoprolol Succinate ER is for extended release and Metoprolol Tartrate is for immediate release. I was told if I have an Afib episode, to use the Tartrate to get racing heartbeat and blood pressure to come down sooner and help convert back to normal sinus rhythm. Check with your cardiologist or electrophysiologist to be sure what they recommend. They will know your condition better than anyone and everyone reacts different to meds. Take care.
