Hi, I literally JUST made an account so that I could share my story with you.
I got them ever since I started having sex (16, I'm 22 now) and it got the the point where I had to sit my bf down and tell him that I couldn't have sex with him anymore because it was too painful.
After spending tons of money on countless antibiotics, I found D-mannose and it has honestly saved my life. I took them everyday and now I don't even bother and I have been free from them for about 6 months now.
I really hope this helps and I feel the struggle. It is overlooked and for some reason, people don't know about d-mannose and how amazing it is. Please give it a go.
If you need any more information, don't hesitate to contact me
What dosage do you use of the D-Mannose? Thanks so much!
What dosage would you take?
Really keen to try your method as my situation sounds so similar to your. Looked up d-mannos but dosages information is really vague, what dosage has worked for you?
Where can I get D-mannose from and which one do you use? I live in Australia, would any D-mannose from a chemist work?
Kind regards
Sarah
I too just registered only for this conversation. I currently have a UTI right now. Where is the best place to get D-mannos? I have been getting UTI's since im 16 and I am 33. I was told to take an antibiotic after intercourse, but if I have sex every day, then I am taking the antibiotic every day. Not only is that followed by a yeast infection, but that is also building up my immunity to antibiotics. Its horrible and I honestly want to just give up on sex all together and never get into a relationship ever again. My boyfriend is understanding but I cant imagine this for the rest of my life. Is D-mannos a pill and where can I find them?
Hi everyone, sorry I've only just got back to you. My account has allowed me on until now for some reason? So it's expensive but I got mine from Amazon. Can be taken 1 tablet a day as a preventative measure but if you feel one coming on, take 1 every three hours. If you're having a full blown UTI, take 1-3 every 3 hours for at least 2 days to ensure all symptoms have cleared. I am no medical professional but I only wish I'd found out about it sooner. I hope this helps you guys and that it doesn't take me long to reply to any other questions you have
Also Alana, I was in your situation too. Please give it a try. I promise I honestly was ready to give up sex but now I enjoy a healthy, active sex life without having to dread a UTI coming on.
just ordered it! it has cranberry in it too. hopefully this is good
I literally have the same issue. I even got resistant to Cipro antibiotics. This is my worst nightmare. Even when i pee after sex i still get a uti. The doc has gave me 100mg Nitro to take after sex. It helps. I never got a uti after I’ve been doing this... taking the Nitro after sex. Last week I didn’t take it because it was literally 5 strokes of dick coming from the back and i got a uti from that -_- . The doc prescribed me a double dose of Sulfa antibiotics and the antibiots gave me a canker sore and yeast in my mouth. My worst night mare ever. The sulfa med also made me itchy. Horrible side effects. I had to call the docs and he told me to cut the dose in half. I’m trying to figure out a better way to handle this without putting antibiotics into my system everytime. I really hope scientists come up with a better natural cure for these common infections.
Hi I have the exact same problem and I also made an account so I could ask you a couple questions about your experience, if you don’t mind adding me back, thanks!
When me and by boyfriend started to have sex I didn't get uti , because I we both took showers and everything was clean . But then this one morning January 2 we tried morning sex which was a disaster because I got the worst uti in my life I cried so much and when we went to the doctor they said it was feces in my bladder and they told me to whip front to back and I did and then we had sex after a pool party , we took showers and everything but I still got a uti . I even get one now if he goes down on me . I have no idea what to do , I want to have sex so bad but I'm scared to get a uti again . What should I do or try please help me .
I didn't mean to share it twice sorry I'm new to this website
Hi, I register so I can tell you guys my experience which solve my problem. I don't see any post which mention this. My wife always have bladder infection or kidney infection after we do the deed. Found out I have GUM DISEASE!!! You will never know until you see your dentist. After I got that fix, my wife never have UTI again!!! It makes perfect sense too, bacteria goes from the mouth to the v##ina. She never had UTI before when I went to the dentist frequently, but then I stop going because I didn't have benefit, now I start to go again. Make sure your husband or BF don't have GUM DISEASE!!! Hope that helps
My husband has gum disease and I suspected this was the culprit of all my UTI infections but wasn't sure until I read this and figured out it now I'm sure this is it. He is in the process of taking care of this.
UTIs after sex have been a massive problem for me, I've had dozens over the last ten years including getting them while travelling in non-English speaking countries. They have made me cry, made me avoid sex, and my boyfriend felt like he was responsible for me getting sick. I have been on antibiotics for UTIs numerous times.
I now prevent them successfully by taking cranberry supplements. I buy the highest dose capsules from the supermarket and take two after sex with a big glass of water (I also pee right after sex and usually shower before and after sex).
Hope this helps xx
I had to make an account and respond to this question because this was literally my life. I was starting to not to want to have sex with my boyfriend. But, after researching and looking at blogs I discovered D-Mannose. If you take it daily and 2 right before and after sex..it'll change your life. I was starting to get one the other day and it literally went away throughout the course of the day. I have cranberry and d-mannose by GNC but I've heard straight mannose pills are better. I was going to get antibiotics all the time and this really helped. I hope it helps someone else! :)
This also happens to me everytime without fail, where is best to purchase D-Mannose from? and will this ever stop or is it something you have to take for years to help prevent it?
I've had the same issue for over two years and was starting to use that and my doctor told me not to for some reason, though I'd had a friend tell me it helped her a ton, too... Basically I got the first UTI of my life when I was 25 and had a new BF, as well as a yeast infection and BV all at the same time. Treated them all, but the UTI has come back at least 95% of the times I've had sex since. Didn't have sex for a year, didn't get one. Started having sex again and have them constantly. It's horrible. and it's not with that same person either, so I really don't get it. Ugh.
My doctor gave me an antibiotics and I take 1 just after or before sex. If I do that I don't get them.
How do you find it i hate this feeling i get it everytime i have sex
Did you cure this yet??? I can help if not :)
Could you post what you were going to recommend?
I have he same problem everytime I have sex I get a UTI. What can I take to prevent it?? I urinate before and after wipe correctly and still get it
Azo, which is otc can help too.
Yeah my dr gave me an antibiotic and told me to take the azo as well
Is it cystitis? I often get that from intercourse, because the bladder can get bruised from being bashed around a bit.
You can get sachets of Cystopurin from the pharmacist or even in some supermarkets, & mix one in a drink when you feel yourself starting to get a bout of cystitis. Cranberry juice can also help symptoms.
Another thing that can help, is to change the position you tend to have sex in, & also for your partner to be more gentle when you are using a sexual position that causes him to be angled towards your bladder.
Hope that helps
It was a UTI as usual :(
Just in case my previous comments with the links I found, don't get passed by admin to be posted on here for you, the link I found discussing UTIs after sex, had people posting the following advice. I've no idea as to how accurate they are, but here's some of the responses:
'Sex is a very common cause of urinary tract infections in women. From what i understand it's not so much the frequency but the act in itself. The fact that you have sex often only increases your chances.
The reason sex can cause infections is due to the fact that during penetration you're allowing bacteria to enter.
The best way to help stop this problem occurring is to make sure you urinate as soon as possible after having sex.
Also make sure you don't "hold on" too long even if you haven't had sex. Holding on rather than urinating when you need to encourages bacteria growth.
I'm not an expert on the matter so you may want to check with a professional although due to health problems with my daughter have done quite a bit of research... '
'It is necessary to explain the anatomical and medical reasons why you experience frequent urinary tract infections after sex.
Comparatively, females are more prone to urinary tract infections (UTI) due to the anatomy of the female genitourinary tract. The female urethra is short (4cm in length) and opens very near and just anterior to the opening of the vagina. The short urethra facilitates the ascent of infective organisms from the vaginal opening into the bladder. Due to the inward and outward movements during a sexual act, a copious amount of secretions and organisms present in the vagina is made available at the vaginal opening for ascent into the bladder.
There are female-specific factors that cause some women recurrent UTI. Women with recurrent UTI
(a) have more binding sites for infective organisms on the linings of the vagina and urethra.
(b) lack an enzyme in the secretions of the linings of the vagina and urethra, which normally masks these binding sites, making these binding sites more available for infective organisms.
Therefore, it is not the frequency of sex that causes recurrent UTI, but in
all women, the proximity of the short urethra to the vagina; and in
some women the abundance of binding sites for infective pathogens and the lack of an enzyme blocker.
In general, women who have recurrent episodes of UTI must be evaluated to determine if they have an uncomplicated or a complicated UTI. This is mandatory in your case and the first line of action.
In uncomplicated UTI, the urinary tract has no structural abnormality, the renal function is normal and there is no associated disease which impairs defence mechanisms.
In complicated UTI, the urinary tract is abnormal due to obstruction or kidney disorders, or there is an associated disease that predisposes to it, such as diabetes mellitus.
It is important to establish the presence of UTI at the onset of symptoms before commencing antibiotic use. This is done by subjecting a fresh, middle stream specimen of urine to microbiological and sensitivity tests. Taking antibiotics without identification of the causative bacteria and their sensitivity may not eradicate the infection, and this usually results in bacterial resistance.
The following are recommended preventive measures to be adopted by women with recurrent UTI, irrespective of the cause. This regimen should be started after a curative course of treatment, based on results of microbiological tests.
*Fluid intake of at least 2 litres per day
*Regular emptying of bladder : 3-hourly intervals by day and before bedtime
*Complete emptying of the bladder at each micturition
*Double micturition before retiring for the night: empty the bladder and then attempt to empty the bladder a second time 15 minutes later.
*Empty bladder before and after intercourse
I hope this information is helpful.

Just wanted to add a note to my original answer, because, since coming off hormonal birth control, I've had no more cystitis! Seems a bit of a coincidence!
I did find drinking aloe vera juice very helpful, to stop the inflammation in the bladder, before I got an attack of cystitis.
