Thank you for your experience with this medication. I just started taking it yesterday for chronic nerve and joint pain. I asked my doctor to start me on 20mg. My side effects were nausea, runny nose & right eye, flushing feeling and headache. I can happily say that I will not be taking it again. I will try other ways to decrease my pain.
Hi Gazania1234. In my opinion and experience the best time to take Duloxetine is never. I was prescribed Cymbalta/Duloxetine over 10 years ago for chronic nerve pain. I am slowly tapering off now because of the multiple side effects. I had no idea that all the problems I was having was from Cymbalta until I started doing research on my symptoms and Cymbalta popped up. I ended up bedridden for over 3 years because this medication zapped every bit of energy I had. Please research this medication and you can see all the side effects. I sure wish someone would have warned me about it. Take care and I wish you the best. Cindy59
Hello Cindy,
I am terribly sorry you had a bad experience with this medication. But not everyone reacts to medications (side effects, benefits, risks, interactions, etc.) in the same way, we are unique.
Having said that I find your answer very negative, one thing is to share your experience and another is to completely discourage another member who is starting treatment with Duloxetine, we are here to help and share, but your answer "NEVER" scares people who may not have the same experience as yours, what does not work for you does not necessarily mean it will not work for someone else and vice versa.
Hi Masso. I realize that everyone does not react to medications in the same way! That's why I started my comment with 'in my opinion and experience' at the first of my comment. This is the only experience I have had with this medication and I felt to share it. I was in no way trying to be negative; I was being real. I feel that if I put my experience with Cymbalta/Duloxetine out there then if someone has a hard time with this medication they have someone to talk to about it and can ask questions. This medication has taken over 10 years from me and I'm still not done with it. I started tapering off 60 mg in 2017 and I'm down to 4 mg and I hope to be completely off this year. It has been a nightmare! So please excuse me if I just felt the need to share my experience. I know that what happened to me may not happen to everyone; but I do know that it could.
I was only trying to warn someone and trying to make sure that they researched the side effects in case it started happening to them. I am in a group of almost 18,000 people who were affected by Cymbalta/Duloxetine the same way that I was and we are all trying to taper off this medication the safest way possible and get our lives back. This number is growing every day and include people from all over the world. I probably would not be alive today if it was not for this wonderful group. And my amazing family; of course. Take care. Cindy
Potential side effects include somnolence and insomnia, depending if you experience either one of them take it in the morning if you experience insomnia and at night if somnolence is present, what is most important is to take your daily dose at the same hour everyday.
