I tested positive for gabapentin it was sent to the lab and said I had high levels?

I had the exact same problem. This computer report found all my other medications and high levels of Gabapentin which I have never taken in my life!

Hi Amanda, interestingly, no drugs are known to cause false positives for Gabapentin although Gabapentin is known to cause false positives for other drugs. Testing for Gabapentin in itself is a bit unusual, as it is not a controlled drug, and normally needs to be requested specifically to be included on a drug screen. False positives do occur however for lots of medications and I would be asking to be retested.

Hi sprouseamanda. This has never happened to me but I’ve heard about many other people who have had this same problem. Many things can cause a false positive test; from ibuprofen to poppy seeds. Crazy eh? I am sure someone who knows more will answer you and help you understand. I mainly wanted to ease your mind about it and let you know that it does happen.
