No, you do not have to check your PT/INR or watch what kind of food you eat. What you do need to watch is what other kind of medications you are or may take in the future. You cannot take ketoconazole, itraconazole, lopinavir/ritonavir, ritonavir, indinavir/ritonavir, conivaptan, carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampin, or St. John’s wort.
If you are taking the 10 mg dose you can take it with or without food. If you are taking a 15 mg dose or higher you must take it with your evening meal. Hope this helps you.
I really wonder why docs don't explain these things. Warfarin is the only med that you have to get your inr checked and watch out for greens.
No you do not need to get your INR checked and can eat as many green vegetables as you like. Xarelto does not affect Vitamin K levels, it works on a different part of the clotting process.
