Hi, rstoj2!
I've taken Seroquel (quetiapine) for sleep only and with an anti-anxiety medication so I can't really say. I looked in User Reviews to see if I could find some information there but anxiety wasn't one of disorders listed. Probably because it's not FDA approved for anxiety and is prescribed primarily for treatment resistant anxiety in patients who haven't responded well to the standard medications.
"Seroquel, whose active ingredient is quetiapine, is an atypical antipsychotic medication primarily used to treat mental health conditions like bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. However, it is sometimes prescribed off-label for anxiety disorders, particularly in cases where other first-line treatments haven't been effective."
Hope this may be of some help to you.
Regards, Wildcat
PS, Seroquel is usually started at a low dose... as low as 50mg... and gradually increased if needed. I don't know what dosage you'd start with for anxiety but likely you'll need to titrate your dosage upward along the way.
Hi Wildcat, thanks so much for replying to my question
You're welcome! :)
Hi Wildcat, I failed to mention that the reason for my question is that pre Christmas my Doctor put me on 25mg of Seroquel at night on top of the 30mg of Lexapro I had already been taking for years and I felt amazing. We went away over Christmas and for some unknown reason I drank every day for 2 weeks and ever since the Anxiety came with vengeance and I’m experiencing a lot of skipped heart beats. It’s been 6 months I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol since I’ve gone up to 37.5mg Seroquel and gone back down to 20mg of Lexapro and don’t feel a better. Trying to work out what is going on and what to do next has been very difficult
Hi, again!
I understand very well how frustrating and overwhelming it can feel. Do you have a doctor you trust and can work with?
I don't know why this has been affecting you for so long. How long have you been taking the Lexapro?
Really, try to believe that there's light at the end of this tunnel. There is.
Take care!
I can’t thank you enough for responding to my message. Thank you
