It does cause weight gain but no worries if its just a very short term treatment. For longer term treatments for longer than a week or 2 you will gain actual weight. However yes u can lose the weight like any other weight gain once off the Prednisone.
I disagree with you stepho. Been on it continuously for nine plus years. There is water weight which one loses as they taper down or stop using it. Depending on dose it could be fifteen pounds or so. However, two weeks weight gain and loss is insignificant for someone who is obese. Food portions controlled and exercise are needed to keep from gaining weight. Water weight is temporary. People who blame prednisone for weight gain haven't found an effective way to control their food intake. Any physician will tell you as much. So please provide accurate information.
You will loose it when stop the med.
