... my appetite, other than getting nauseous quite often. I exercise 4-5 times a week so I'm not sure the Contrave is working for me. Anyone having similar issues?
I've been taking Contrave for 5 weeks, I have neither lost nor gained.. I don't see a difference in?

I've been taking it for two and a half weeks and have zero side effects. I've been watching what I eat and exercising and only lost one pound. I'm already frustrated but will stick with it because I'm a fighter plus my insurance doesn't cover so it's almost $200.00 a month ! It's way out of my budget but my family is helping until I get back on my feet after gruesome divorce. I hope this works for all of us!!!
Hi there! My insurance doesn't cover it either but my Dr came me a savings card along with the script and it's saved me half the price. Ask your dr or your pharmacist maybe they have the savings card too. Good luck!
I know that your frustrated, hang in there and learn the signals your body is giving you " The nausea" . For me I hated that feeling and stop eating the moment it came on. Then I realize I couldn't finish a sandwich or a meal without feeling sick, as a matter of fact I was probably stopping after only five or six bites. The weight started to immediately fall off, I split a meal with my wife every time we go out to eat. Because I know now that after a few bites of food I'll start feeling queasy, so I stop, and when I get hungry a few hours later I'll take a few more bites of my sandwich or eat some almonds as a snack or some fruit, and then same thing repeats a few hours later.
Please don't make the same mistake I did and not get enough nutrition I ate whatever I wanted to eat but after a time of eating sweets candy as my 4 or 5 bites I realize that my hair started falling out my skin kind a got a weird color because I was probably starving to death because I wasn't getting enough nutrition now I'm very conscious of what I eat because I don't want to not get enough vitamins and minerals in my diet.
The people here on this web site have been very helpful to me hoping I can pass that on to someone else, I'm 3 pounds away from hitting my hundred pound mark since I started in January. I need also to tell you that about three months after I started these diets pills I started a walking regimen and have continued that to this day, walking up to 5 miles a day. I wish you and everyone success on your journey.
Bob
I've been taking contrave since January and have lost 88 pounds, I had a hard time at first with some of the side effects, constipation, dry mouth etc. for me I could not eat or drink when I first started taking it. My Dr. Had to lower my dose to 1 in the morning 1 in the evening. My Doctor told me that he's seeing about a 70% success rate with Contrave. Better than any weight loss drug he has ever prescribed, but he also said there were people like you that have not lost any weight at all, and eat the same way as before they started taking the drug. The nausea will go away once you cut back on the eating, I was nauseous when I tried to eat the way I was eating before I started taking Contrave.
Good Luck, Contrave has changed my life for the better. Started out at 328 pound today 240. In March I started walking and now walk about 5 miles a day, I could not walk a 100 feet before.
My goal was to lose 20 pounds, but I have lost 30 pounds with Topomax and Adipex. I've been using Contrave as a maintenance drug for 1.5 months. No weight loss. No weight gain. Not impressed. Congratulations to you!
I have not lost any weight yet. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. That is awesome results. So gives me hope
I have been on Contrave for 1and 1/2 months I started May 9th 2015 and I lost 18lbs effective today 6/22 Now this is how I lost the weight on this Medication Breakfast I eat a Quaker instant Oatmeal Packet the Protien one , Lunch I eat a Michaelinas $1.00 Frozen meal with Protein For Lunch I eat a Salad/ Chicken or a Smoothie for Dinner I drink a Gallon of Water Daily and I walk 1mile 3days a week I snacked on Hampton Peanuts and Fruit in between I stopped eating after 6:30pm and Yes I did Scale Down I have No side effects... You cannot eat a big meal and expect weight loss I take the dose of 2 pills AM and PM and My Dr is so Proud of my Success..
I have been on a combo of Topamax and Adipex along with a 1,000 calorie meal plan. In nearly five months, I lost 24 pounds. Doctor switched me to Contrave. In 2 weeks I've lost 4 additional pounds. Not nearly the success as with the above combination. I went full strength at once due to the fact that I already took Wellbutrin prior. I have not had any side effects as described by other posters.
You are the first person I have came across like me. I have been on it since March 29th 2015. I too have neither lost not gained. I am working out & for the most part making better eating decisions. However I have still binged from time to time. Just not as often as before. What is your current situation? Do you get extreme headaches if you miss it?
I have been on it for over a month and not only have I not seen any loss1 have gained 2lbs. And worse, the scale they sent falsifies loss, gradually showing a decline in weight. I thought I was doing well and then put my old scale . alongside theirs and found a 12-15 lb. difference.they are faking results!
My Scale Down scale has been very consistent vs. my home scale. Yes the home scale differs from the Scale down one, no home scale will give exact weight every time. Have you considered that something may be wrong with the scale they sent you? I did not lose weight for the first 5 weeks and realized that I had to actually diet to lose weight. I do find it easier to stick to a diet while on Contrave. I have lost 12lbs in 7 weeks. I do go over my calorie count occasionally. Previously I didn't last a week on a diet.
BTW, contributor Karen? With her weight and height = a BMI of approx 24, she shouldn't be on this medication.
I have been on Contrave for about a month and am taking full dosage. Mostly I am so nauseated I don't want to eat. I hope that the drug doesn't make you lose weight that way! I do find that when I finally force myself to eat something, the nausea is abated for a little while.
I thought the nausea was getting better but that hasn't lasted... I've gotten to where nausea is nonstop whether I eat or not and if I cannot stop moving I usually end up hugging the toilet which is not anything I had bargained for, I cannot live with a constant headache and nausea so I'm planning on stopping the medication
Also was on last doses,2 in am and 2 in pm very nauseous every day. Stopped medication, lost 5 pounds total. Gained back 3 quickly not working for me. I'm a 57 year old woman 5'3 138 lbs.
I'm on week 3, 2 in the morning 1 in the evening. I feel so tired and out of it it's unbelievable. I really think I am going to stop this medication
For me, the nausea occurred on days I increased dose, and I know it was because of low blood sugar. You must watch what you eat and make sure you're eating enough protein!!
I think you will find that the nausea is a symptom of over eating. If you cutback I think the nausea will go away. It did for me, but then you're thinking well I'm only able to eat 4 or 5 bites, and that's what the drug does, that's why they call it gastric bypass in pill form.
My sister who had lap band surgery says after a few bites she gets nauseous the same with me on Contrave. You must be careful to make sure to get enough nutrition or your hair will fall out like mine did it in the beginning by making poor food choices.
Good Luck
I have been taking for about 6 weeks now. No change in appetite for me. Kinda bummed about it because I was hoping once I was on full dose for awhile I'd feel at least a little less hunger. Not giving up on it though. Hopefully now that holidays are over I will do better. I know that when I am stressed I eat whether hungry or not
Week 4 - I'm not really seeing or feeling any difference. I'm so hungry all the time!
I'm on my third week. I have not lost any weight, first week I thought I was going to starve to death! I was so hungry all the time. I'm not up to the max dose, I plan on giving it a couple more weeks before I toss in the towel.
I have been on Contrave for 5 1/2 weeks I had no side effects and hadn't lose a pound taking it and it has not curved my appetite. Anyone else out there experiencing this?? I'm going to finish taking the remainder pills but, I have already contacted my Dr. to tell him it's not working for me. I'm waiting to see what he wants to do or try now. Very, very disappointed.
I been the same way no weight loss
I been the same way no weight loss
I'm nearing week 7... Headaches and nausea still continue, though the nausea is somewhat better.I have been doing the scale down program now for a little over a month, I don't like to weigh everyday either. For me weighing in everyday is more of a bummer because I'm not seeing any significant difference in the number, where when I weighed weekly seeing a few pounds gone was more motivating but that's my personal experience. I had some really good results with phentermine a total loss of 35 pounds, my doctor thought it was time to switch things up since I had plateaued, after 7 weeks still at a plateau...
I too was on phentermine and lost about 20lbs. My doctor switched me to contrave as well because it seemed I had hit a plateau. I've been on contrave for about 3 months now and now weight loss. I've been exercising and eating right, so if any one has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. The only thing I'm losing is hair, everytime I brush/wash I get quite of bit of hair loss. Anyone else having this issue?
I'm in week 4, haven't received my scale down scale yet, but I didn't sign up immediately. I took phentermine/trokendi xr for 6 months and in the first 4 I lost 35-40lb. Hit a plateau and switched to contrave. It's very different than the other two meds. I feel hungry now, but in the last few days (since reaching full dose) I've noticed that I'm satisfied much quicker and I can put the food down, push it away, etc. I'm tracking my calories and eating around 1000 a day (per doc orders). Are you tracking your calorie intake? I use the Livestrong MyPlate app. It's excellent.
I got my scale and was so excited! I have not been able to get my weight to send. I get the same Err4 CELL error and receive no help from the ScaleDown support. They just tell me to move my scale around or even take it to work to get a signal. Very disappointed in what I had hoped would be a great program. I have lost about 7lbs in 2 weeks. Not as much as I had hoped for.
This is week 3. 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. I get up at 3:30 and I try to take the first dose around 4:30. I can say that I sleep well at night. I didn't sleep much on phentermine.
I feel extra hungry this week. I Hope when I start the full dose that my appetite gets back under control. I did sign up for Scale Down. My scale arrived today. It weighs a little heavier than my Aria scale.
I've been taking Contrave for almost a month. Same here..not much weight lost.
Are you signed up for scale down? I'm not a fan of weighing myself everyday.
Me neither. It is extremely stressful
I've have great success with Contrave but I do not like the scale-Down program
First I do not think the scales are very accurate, weighing every day are you saying is up-and-down up-and-down, before scale down I weighed once a week and always saw success. Now I'm up .3 down .2 up .7 down. .8, I don't need this roller coaster ride and have discontinued scale down.
Good Luck
I don't like the scale either. My regular scale shows more of a loss while this one has stayed the same. The text is rather annoying as well.
I have had similar issues, some mild nausea, mild headaches, maybe slight loss of appetite but nothing too profound. Not sure if any of these symptoms are related to this drug or just seasonal/holiday stress related.? I have been on for 1 month now and first couple of weeks actually felt a little bit more hungry.
I feel like I want to eat more than before I started ...
I've been on for 5 weeks and for the last 2 weeks my appetite increased significantly. I'm eating more vegetables now, which is a good thing, but I'm never feel full any more. My caloric intake has jumped but I've only gained 4 pounds. I'm not sure what I should.
I am on bupropion one of the two drugs in it. I'm not on it for wgt loss, and have been on it for 2 weeks. So far there is no change in my appetite.
I'm hoping if I am on it longer it will go away. Unfortunately for me, if a drug causes loss of appetite, it won't for me. We havent' had too many people talk about contrave yet, but everyone is different and what works for one won't work for another
I had been on 200mg bupropion twice a day for years. It never reduced my appetite.
I had to wean off of the daily 400mg bupropion in order to take Contrave.
First week 1-Contrave and 1-100mg bupropion in the morning and at night 1-200mg bupropion.
Second week 1-Contrave and 1-100mg bupropion in the morning and at night 1-Contrave and 1-100mg bupropion.
Third week 2-Contraves in the morning and at night 1-Contrave and 1-100mg bupropion.
Fourth Week 2-Contraves in the morning and at night 2-Contraves. I was now on full dosage of Contrave.
At first I had a little bit of dizziness and nausea but that went away pretty quickly.
I do take Align daily and do not have constipation.
Contrave has taken that constant want to eat feeling. I lose slow but happy that I am. (Low metabolism) 12 pounds in 3 months.
I try to walk at least 1 mile a day. (I am a person who never exercise and had a desk job)
I use MyFitnessPal, MapMyFitness, and FitBit. Try to stay at 1,250 calories a day and defiantly have days where I blow it. I just pick up the next day.
I am very happy with Contrave and I told my Doctor that I never want to stop taking Contrave. I want it for the rest of my life. She says that is what is great about this medication, I can take it the rest of my life.
I do need to have knee surgery, so when/if I do that, I will have to stop taking Contrave because you can not take the strong pain pills while on Contrave. Once I am healed from surgery, I will be able to go back on Contrave.
I hope this helps.
