Just got back from my cardiologist, I'm in the same situation as you. I asked the same question and he replied that the big concern is if you had an MI and needed Nitro it could drop your blood pressure to a dangerous level. He said there is no other complication using the two. He had me on the 5mg per day, I suggested that I stop that and take two pills when the situation arises. We're older and perhaps not as frequent as most he said that's a good compromise.
It is not a good ideal to take Cialis with clopidogrel. It is not for heart or stroke patients.
Before taking this medicine
You should not take Cialis if you are allergic to tadalafil, or:
if you take other medicines to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, such as riociguat (Adempas).
Do not take Cialis if you are also using a nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems. This includes nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate. Nitrates are also found in some recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers"). Taking Cialis with a nitrate medicine can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure.
To make sure Cialis is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:
heart disease or heart rhythm problems, coronary artery disease;
a recent heart attack (within the past 90 days);
a recent history (in the past 6 months) of a stroke, or congestive heart failure;
That is from the Cialis information. You need to ask your doctor if it is okay to take together. But because Cialis was first a blood pressure drug, and then they found that it helped with erectile dysfunction. So now that is what it is. I am sorry I can not be of any more help!
