i am a 52 yo female, having my first colonoscopy. i have had problems with constipation and i also have gastro paresis. According to gastro dr, this is normal. Anyways, i just did round one of the prep about 1.5 hrs ago, and nothing. i have been on milk of magnesia(3tblsp) for the last week.and it didnt help either. Is this normal for the prep NOT to work, or what should i do. Colonoscopy is scheduled for 7:30am. next dose due at 3am... I dont want to go thru this again. what can i do to make sure this works so i dont have to repeat
When does Suprep NOT work?

It took 3 hours for my first prep to work! This is my third colonoscopy due to polyps three years ago! I called Dr at the 3 hr. mark, she suggested Miralax but before I could get it. All h#$@ broke loose.
I heard that doing a liquid or soft food diet would help as I have a redundant colon. I can’t say that it did or didn’t as SUPRAPREP was a new prep for me. Just finished my 2nd dose. I discovered that adding 2 packets of Crystal Light Lemonade made it much better and I chased it with sips of Sprite!
Praying everything clears. This site has helped so much for the prep! Thank you.
It didn’t work for me within the first two hours in addition to experiencing sever stomach cramping. So I returned to my old faithful which is a sea salt water flush. I drank a full 8oz of that, and violá, immediate relief. Because of the severe cramping and bloating, I may resort to a second sea salt flush instead of the SuPrep. It not agreeing with me at all.
I sure hope everything went okay for you, I was looking for similar answer, took me a few minutes more than 1.5 hrs to work after first prep, was very sudden. I like this a lot better than meds I had to drink last time. My instructions are to take again at 4 am and have to be there at 8 so hope it works as fast in the morning!
It can sometimes be slow to start but it should begin working. You can always call your Dr. Even if it is after hours, there should be someone available to call you back. .
