Chlamydia Infection - Can Azithromycin effectiveness be reduced if ingested too soon after contact?

I was exposed to chlamydia, and a couple hours later I was lucky enough to already have a dr appointment scheduled, and I was given Azithromycin to treat. I took the medication about 7 hours after sexual contact. Is this too soon for Azithromycin to be effective?
