14 year old with ADHD and social anxiety. Only days on Strattera. Seems to help focus/alertness very subtly. However she’s suddenly having a higher degree of a social anxiety in school, trouble making friends, and is very depressed over the pandemic mask mandates… even mentioned suicide last night, (not planning but brought up the word to describe her concerns and if it’ll ever get better in our crazy world). I’m questioning whether Strattera could be causing depression & greater anxiety. Anyone experience this? Trying to give the drug more time but suicide talk is a deal breaker
Strattera - Can Strattera cause social anxiety and suicidal ideation?

Answers
It's possible that the medication is the culprit:
"Common (1% to 10% of users): Aggression/hostility, irritability, mood swings, depression/depressed mood, early morning awakening, abnormal dreams, decreased libido, sleep disorder, agitation, anxiety
Uncommon (0.1% to 1% of users): Suicide-related behavior (suicide attempts, suicidal ideation), psychotic/manic symptoms (e.g., hallucinations, delusional thinking, mania), restlessness, emotional lability, generalized anxiety disorder"
Although uncommon the side effects generally resolve within days to weeks. But because of her mention of suicide, even in passing, it would be best to notify her physician ASAP.
