My nurse told me there were conflicts with my meds and St. John's wort, which I was taking. So I stopped taking it. I felt very "down" and depressed after that so I started taking it again. I just checked for interactions and found that 6 of my meds [amlodipine, baclofen, donepezil, melatonin, trazodone, & venlafaxine] were listed as interacting with it. The only difference I could feel between taking it and not taking it was an increase in the depression feeling. What can I use instead so I won't be feeling my depression?

Hi, bookfiend! "What herbs are good for depression? Herbs and supplements St. John's wort. ... Ginseng. This supplement comes from the gnarled root of the American or Asian ginseng plant. ... Chamomile. ... Lavender. ... Saffron. ... SAMe. ... Omega-3 fatty acids. ... 5-HTP." You could also investigate CBD which is supposed to help with depression and anxiety.
