sage is very good for premenopause. make sure to take sufficient, quality calcium during this time also, as this will help with symptoms and to prevent osteoporosis. st. johns wort can and usually will help to stabilize your mood and give you a better outlook on life. evening primrose oil is an essential fatty acid that is beneficial for menstrual and inflammatory conditions, not to mention overall health. i prefer fish oil because it has more variety when it comes to the essential omega 3s, 6s, and 9 fatty acids and is beneficial with almost any condition or ailment. Maybe some of this was a little off topic so sorry if it was a bit confusing.
St. Johns Wort is a mood stabilizing herb, but does nothing for your agonizing body as it goes through estrogen withdrawal. The evening primrose oil tends to have some nervous system "mellowing" effects also, but is not my herb of choice for this issue (it doesnt do all that much, doesnt hurt though). Personally, I find Chaste Berry and Damiana to be far more effective to women at the change of life. Black cohosh and squaw vine are also good choices to add. Look for a tincture with these ingredients, or make one yourself by steeping the herbs for a few days in some vodka and straining out the herbs. The taste is definately do-able in a glass of red wine :) Also, wild sourced herbals are much more effective, if you can get them.
