I was on Lexapro (Escitalopram) for 1 year and could not ejaculate within this period of time, so I discontinued it and I was back on track 2 weeks after I stopped taking it, of course everyone reacts differently to medications.

Although the sexual side effect was a nightmare, I must say this antidepressant is effective.

Hi, Blease!
As with most antidepressant/anxiolytics up to about 15% of male users could potentially experience sexual side effects which may be short- or long-term.
That's a heck of an answer isn't it? Still, the benefits of the medication usually outweigh the risk.
If you find you have a problem with it, the atypical antidepressants like Wellbutrin, Viibryd, Trintellix, etc. are less apt to cause these side effects. Also, often a dosage adjustment by your doctor or the addition of another AD like Wellbutrin can be helpful.

Thank you for your reply. I was on atypical tablets trazodone and it completely knocked me out . Researching I found out it is for people who have sleep problems

Yes, trazodone and mirtazapine can be sedating and are often prescribed for the insomnia that's common with depression/anxiety disorders.

May I ask what anxiety depression tablet are taking now. And does it affect your sexual function?

I'm taking Wellbutrin (bupropion) happily for two reasons... I'm Bipolar and can't take the SSRI or SNRI classes because they provoke manic episodes. The other reason is that it doesn't cause the sexual side effects that are most common with them... for me anyway.
BTW, I'm a female but we can also potentially experience this type of side effects too.

I've just started escitalopram so I see how I get on with it. I'm taking it in the morning as on the first night I could not sleep and kept waking up. That medication you are on isn't available in the UK.
