Long story cut short, I have been prescribed 80mg propranolol & 100mg of sertraline around 2 weeks ago, after being on 40mg propranolol & 50 mg sertraline for a few months.
I do feel a bit better, but still having panic attacks & anxiety is sky high, and when the attacks happen, they're severe. I get aching muscles, lump in my throat constantly & burning sensation across my chest and upper back, but not the heartburn type. I don't know what I would rather,, constant panicking or severe panic attacks at least once a day! Can someone please enlighten me that this will get better? I'm also finding eating very hard, and have thrown up a few times over the past week, but my stomach is empty so it's causing me a lot of pain wretching on an empty tummy
Will this ever stop? Will I ever get some ease? How long roughly did it kick in for you to start to see some sort of benefit to taking sertraline
Sertraline & propranolol, is anyone on this combination?

It will get better. Everything passes, every storm runs out of rain my friend. There was a time in my life where I physically was so overcome with panic, I could not leave my living room. I would get panic attacks simply walking to the bathroom. The lump in the throat is the absolute worst. It was so bad for me, people close to me could hear my throat “click” when I would swallow. But it got better. The drugs you are taking are altering your brain chemistry, and unfortunately for us folks who suffer from panic and anxiety, it takes trial and error to get the dose right. Sertraline did not work for me. So I switched over to Buspirone. That doesn’t mean it will not work for you, we are all different. Propranolol has always helped me. I think your doctor has you on a good combo. Sertraline for the mental symptoms and propranolol for the physical symptoms. I’ve been there with the vomiting. I’ll tell you sometimes it’s better if you can eat something to make the wretching easier. I had to drink ensure protein shakes. They are full of nutrients your body needs, and it’s easier to puke the them up. BRAT also works, bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast. All gentle on your system and easy if you need to throw up. No one can tell you when it will let up, just know it will. The world will turn, and one day you’re going to feel better. The anxiety will never fully go away, but it will move to the background and you’ll get through it. I haven’t probably offered the specific advice you were seeking regarding your medications, but I just wanted to tell you it will get better. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
Hi Nemo. That all sounds pretty difficult. I recently had my dosage of sertraline upped to 100, it was too much. Had to be cut back, but was cut back too much. Now on 75 mg with Buspar and mirtazapine for sleep. My stomach has also been a disaster (about a month now). It's way better if I make sure to eat something with the meds. Try a big piece of toast and or hard boiled eggs. I know it is hard to eat right now but your body needs it. The sertraline takes a good three to four weeks for the dose adjustment. Sorry I don't have experience with propranolol. Try to give it a few weeks if you can, I know that much time is excruciatingly hard, but it's the only way to find out if it works. In the meantime I hope you have support in your life and try to pamper yourself as much as possible. Take care.
