I was told I could refrigerate it and use it next time or even several times.
The manufacturer is being totally cautious. If you touch it to your eye, its considered contaminated and may have bacteria on it. If you keep it it can theoretically grow and the next time you use it you're putting it in your eye. Refrigerating it will decrease the amt of bacteria that can be potetentially on it.
