I was in a severe aircraft accident crash have many physical problems including shattered discs 6 fractured lumbars broken shoulder and ankle and the list goes on. I have been taking 10mg Norco and 10mg Zydone finding Zydone relieves the pain much more than Norco. Since I have been building a tolerance they don't work as well as before. Doctor starting prescribing Percocet 10/325 and does work much better generic Endocet this time the pharmacy gave me generic made by Mallinckrodt would like to know if anybody has had the different brands and could tell in your opinion if you think one brand works better than the other would appreciate your comments if you have tried the different brands both Oxycodone and Acetaminophen 10/325. Do you think one works better than the other? Would appreciate some feedback. Thank You.

Today the pharmacy pulled another switch on the generic 10/325 Percocet first I got Endocet then Mallinckrodt now today I got Amneal never heard of this brand before. Has anybody tried these different brands if so can you tell the difference? I know there are many different generic brands but also know that some relieve pain better than others I believe it's quality control,so far I believe Endocet was the best for relief of pain Mallinckrodt was okay also there are even more generic brands. If you have tried different brands I would appreciate your input on which brand worked best for you. As you know medication is expensive and don't like paying about the same price for a less quality brand when you can get a better brand for a few dollars more. Thank You, Frank M.

For me the best generic is Watson 932- Percocet 10/325. Have tried others, but this is the best.
Agreed Watson is as close to quality than any manufacturer.
I take generic Percocet 10/325 and my pharmacy changed the supplier/manufacturer this week. I do not want to take any pain medications but without it I can not be very mobile at all but with it of course the downside is the effects on the thinking process. To me it is more painful to lose any of my thinking processes however the doctor insisted I take something to stop the pain as the pain was also impairing my thinking.
I have done very well on the original manufacturer, which I am not sure the name of but the pill in appearance is in the shape of a capsule but is solid, it is white and has M523 on one side and 10/325 on the other. These worked great, at times I do have to take two at a time, like bedtime and at times I need to take 1 and 1/2 which is very easy to do with this particular pill, they snap in half very easily.
When I filled my new prescription 5 days ago the pharmacy had changed to a pill that looks in appearance as yellow, circular, has 230 on one side and a logo on the opposite side. Again I am not sure the manufacturer. When I take it its like taking a caffeine pill and wires me up, the pain actually is worse even taking up to 3 at once (Dr Approved). I am hyper to begin with so at this point taking nothing is actually better than taking these.
I called the pharmacy today and spoke with the pharmacist who I have dealt with for nearly 30 years and he did confirm that while the main ingredient is the same the fillers are very different and can/does have different effects on certain people especially if the person, like myself, is hypersensitive to medication or anything new being introduced to my body. I am not the only person that has called in to make this complaint on this change in the manufacturer. I have had other medications switched and not tell the difference however this one is very noticeable. The pharmacist is going to keep using the new manufacturer however for those of us that have called in to inquire he is going to stock some of the previous brand.
My doctor would change the medication to something stronger or go to a morphine based medication with percocet for break through pain but as I stated I do not want to take anything so he is happy I finally agreed to take something so I do not suffer as much.
For those that stated there is no difference between the brands that is a false statement. If your pharmacist is straight forward he/she will tell you yes the fillers are different and can/do react differently. They are not identical, the main active ingredient is very close but close only counts in horse shoes. When it comes to my quality of life close does not cut the mustard.
I am very thankful my pharmacist will stock the old manufacturer for myself and others like myself that are not getting any relief out of the new manufacturer of the generic Percocet they now use. The reason for the change is the the circular pill works with Script-Pro much more easily because the machine had issues with cutting or breaking the long pills while the circular pills are not affected nearly as often. The cost of the new circular pills are a lot less expensive for the pharmacy as well.
There are many different views on this. Many will say that there is no difference between the generics and name brands or even different generics... and that is their view... I was in a bad accident and because of that I am prescribed percocet 10/325. I can tell you that I do see a difference in the different generics. The worst in my opinion was from Amneal. I didn't even know that I had a different brand until the 2nd day when I was like what is going on this is not helping my pain. I looked at the bottle and saw the different brand. I will never get them again. I generally get Mallinckrodt they seem to be OK. I have had the Endocet before and yes they are made by the same company that mfgs the brand name Percocet. I personally thought they were the same as the Mall. The pharmacy gave me the mfg bottle and if you peel it back it actually does have a * by the 10mg. Then lower it says that it actually has only 8. something of the oxy.
I know it is more expensive but I try to get the name brand. It gives you the full 10 mg. If I can't get that I get the Mallinckrodts. You will always have people say it's in your head..but I really don't think it is. Some work better than others and to me it is a fact...
anneal puts me to sleep in 15 minutes that's the 15mg. Terrible
Exactly same for me. But huhh they never gave me actual bottle? And i have been under care of dr many years. 6 spinal surgeries 3 neck fused top to bottom. There not working as well so def believe less medicine
Frank M,
The ladies have been very kind & have given some great suggestions/recommendations & I would not like to add further but would like to appraise you on the facts that there are no difference in branded & generics meds, only the manufacturer changes.
When a med/drug goes off patent then generics are licensed to be sold on the market. The patent is valid for 20 years.
Thanks for responding
Most welcome & stay well, life is precious!
I totally disagree i have neen taking percecet brand name for 2 years and the pharmacy gave me generic oxycoddone didnt work worth a crap was in pain for.the whole month. I called the pharmcy 4 times amd.they said the insurance.companies are.not paying enough for.the brand name so.they had to give me generic whatever they lie i called my insurance.company and the said the havent heard of such a thing so i called.the pharmacy back and told.them that then they told me we the pbarmacy dont make enough money from.brand names.so.tjey give out.generic and if i want my name brand percecet i have to pay 90 dollars more. This is bullshit that the pharmacies can give us generic brand when they have name brand but we have to pay more. There is a difference i was in pain with generic and not with brand name. Its all.about money 9
So i need to ad more i called a.different pharmacy and gee.tjey have me tje name nrand no questions asked i told tje mew pharmacy i would like the name nrand tjey gave it to me same price and i havent been in pain. Its the pharmacys trying to make money off of generic and not giving us the name brand that works better.
generics have to be only 80 % as strong as non-generic. different brands are not exactly the same as some are much weaker than others. i don't know why but from much experience i know it's true
This is not true. I called the Pharmacist after receiving yellow 10/325. Never had before. I called because they dont work as well and i am fatigue and anxious. He said yes that the same amount of codeine 10 and tylenol 325mg but that depending on what else they use to make it can cause the break down to be different. And can affect the way it hits our bodies. And that i am probably allergic to yellow die and this makes sense because they have given me other things long ago that were yellow that i ended up in E R. Feeling whacked again. So there is a difference talk to your pharmacist because the dr dont know on the different generics. Im going into tomorrow to i have mine changed its a horrible feeling and still in pain. Not good...
As far as different manufacturers, the FDA mandates they all must be the same. I shattered my mid spine in an accident, not an aircraft, thank God, just a car. Have you asked to try MS Contin 100mg and oxy 15mg for breakthrough pain? That works pretty good. I can't imagine the pain you must be in. Percocet and oxycodone are exactly the same thing with the same mg of the oxy. You can quickly build a tolerance to them. I would ask for a GOOD extended release med and a little stronger oxy for bt pain. Just my opinion. I hope you get your pain under control VERY soon!
My best wishes,
Chris
Christine, ye are a wise one my friend!!! Very good suggestion!

Hope you get to feeling better soon, been on lot of different medications and I do know ingrediants are the same in all but do believe some manufacturers work better than others maybe its quality control even pharmacy's told me other customers can tell the differance and prefer certain brands over others good topic for conversation anyway maybe FDA should start checking quality control at different Pharma companys. At the price of these Meds. we should get what we pay for. Thanks for your comments take care. Frank M
Active ingredients that is true, but the inactive ingredients vary greatly. I took the Percocet 10/325 for 20 months and was cutting back slowly. The pharmacy changed me to C320 and I'm in more pain now. My doctor said that the inactive ingredients can cause a difference in the way your body processes the pill. I'm going to make sure I get the Percocet 10/325 from now on!
Hi Frank M, I am so very sorry to hear about your accident. How horrible for you. I used to take Oxycontin (prescribed) perhaps that might work for your pain?? Ask your doc about it.
Be forewarned, it is highly addictive though.
Wishing you all the best,
sweetlemon
