I am diagnosed Bipolar I, I seem to have a resistance to most common Bipolar medications my doctor first tried many meds that were ultimately failures. He then tried me on Wellbutrin XL which has done great for my depression and even mania, this issue now is it is not helping at all with Anxiety attacks nor does it help with panic. So he recently added a mild dose of Celexa to help with the anxiety.
My question is are the two compatible? Has anyone been on this combination before?

Hi, colton! Wellbutrin actually is becoming more widely prescribed for anxiety but everything depends on whether you respond to it. You haven't. That doesn't mean that another won't work either. It's trial and error with the Celexa as to whether it will work for you. There is a very slight risk of seizures but that's true for the Wellbutrin too. I don't worry about it because I've taken Celexa's cousin, Lexapro, and Wellbutrin with no problems at all. If you're concerned about the interaction get your doctor's opinion. They likely have determined that the potential risk is outweighed by the benefits.

I take Wellbutrin and I was on Celexa with it, but I gained weight with Celexa and was taken off of it. Anyways. Wellbutrin is only an antidepressant. It will not help with anxiety. It may actually increase it, so your doctor most likely put you on Celexa since it can help your anxiety and it’s an extra boost for treating your depressive symptoms.
