I just had this very same problem two months ago. PLEASE call your doctor and see if he/she can get you some sample packs of Vimpat until you are able to get your refill. Even though you are on two other AEDs you are still running a chance of having a seizure. You will also disrupt the levels of Vimpat in your body and have to adjust to the medication all over again. Most doctor's are very nice when you explain to them that you are having trouble getting a refill and will give you a few sample packs to get you through. If it is your neuro that you are having issues with contact your GP to write you a prescription. If it is due to the cost of the Vimpat there is an assistance program where you can get your Vimpat for free. The manufactuor will send a six month supply directly to your doctor's office where you can pick it up. Vimpat is a schedule 3 drug. It has a mild pain reliever in it. (I just found all of this out when I had the same issue you are having) I am sure your neuro or GP will help you out knowing that you have run out. Be persistant. I was. Best of Luck!
I was released from the nursing home in Fowler Ohio called Meadowbrook Manor and I'm traveling to North Carolina right now my family members are really upset with the fact that the nursing home didn't give me any medication to cover me at all. I mean everything and I left on the seventh of November 2014 but we were not able to leave right away due to the power steering line snapped in half and had to wait I'm advising no family members should have to go through this situation at all
Vimpat is A AED that you have to come off of A little at A time to prevent brain hyperactivity. Its also A class 3 controlled substance. Its A very strong AED. There should be no reason why you could not call your nero and get A refill, unless you run out before you should have. Last time I ran out was over A holiday weekend and the ER gave me 5 days of vimpat after I was there for A seizure from missing 1 dose. So be very carful, Vimpat is not A AED you want to go without. It can and will cause you alot of issues if not taken the right way. good luck.
This is a dangerous thing for you to be out of. Why can't you get a refill? The chances of a seizure aren't something I'd like to think of. It would be out of your system in about 3 days.
i am also on gabapentin and dilantin
If money is the problem, you can get only part of the prescription at a time. How did you run out? Is it a longer time then your prescription was for, or did you take more then prescribed? I'd be on the phone to a dr to get more, that's for sure.
There not cheap, A 30 day supply is just over $1,200.00 for 60 pills. I take 200 mg twice a day and if I miss 1, Im in A world of seizures. not A good thing at all to run out of or buy. My nero gives me 6 refills every time. I call them in on 25th of month and pick them up on 28th.
