Hi, kelben!
First off, do not stop the Pristiq abruptly or you'll likely experience some discontinuation symptoms. As Wiley suggested you'll need to work with your doctor on a plan. They might recommend a cross taper where you slowly reduce your dose of Pristiq while gradually increasing your Lexapro dose.
I'm sorry your Pristiq has started "pooping out" on you... it's not uncommon for antidepressants to lose efficacy after long term use.
Lexapro is a good choice for both depression and anxiety disorders. I took it for over 7 years and was very happy with how it worked for me.
Best regards and good luck!
You will want to work with your PsyDoc and follow his/her instructions.
I think you will be pleased with Lexapro. In the beginning, I suffered clenched jaw, daytime yawning, and intrusive thoughts. But all of those issues disappeared after 3 or 4 weeks. Lexapro has changed my life.
