Do you see a pain management doctor? If so, ask about a Spinal Cord Stimulator. It works strictly for nerve pain/sensations. They give you a trial, done in a procedure room, and they let you try it out for a few days to make sure it helps. Then, if you get 50% relief or more, you can have the surgery to implant it. It's a pretty easy surgery. I know it can really help. You also might try a topical cream containing Hypericum. You can find it in health-food stores. It does help take the edge off a bit. Sounds like a terrific idea, if you can afford it.
Insurance paid 100% of my stimulator and my primary is Medicare. I've heard of some sweet deals for people who have copays. These pain specialists get big kickbacks for referring people, so you might want to ask about it. You never know! - EJ23
Am interested in what you have tried for this. gabapentin does help many. Have you had this?
Hi. Iam on Cymbalta am allergic to gabpapentin ( spelling ). I have not slept since Saturday night. I feel like I am going to rip my feet apart, pain alone would be tolerable, but the itching is beyond tolerance. I will never make it through another night! Begging anyone with a way to stop this to help me... Have no idea what I will do.
My nana's ol' tried and true is the hot foot bath with epson salt ($1 store) and soak. Good luck.
I have been on Gabapentin at it's highest dosage, and it didn't work for me. So i heard of this drug called "Lyrica", and all the itching ,burning, and throbbing pains are gone now!!! It was a miracle drug for me anyway. It isn't the cheapest drug out there, so if you could get help paying for it, get it. I go to pain management and my doctor there was able to get Medicare to pay for most of it. I only have to pay about $6.00 a month for it. Thanks.
I rub my feet, applying pressure can help. It is intense when I stand but does improve some when I get back in bed. Keep at your doctor and let him know about not sleeping. When something becomes a focus like this, you need more help than you are getting. Please call today and insist on seeing someone. There is no need to suffer like this. If not able to see someone, I would go to an urgent care or ER so your pain and lack of sleep is treated. Too little sleep makes one feel crazy. At some point it does make one crazy as emotions are all over the place. Please don't hesitate to get help. You deserve it. Be sure someone drives you, ok? Hope you get some help soon. ER is good for treating pain. Karen
Buttons50,
Run a nice hot tub of water and soak in it. If that doesn't ease your pain and itching, then (provided you are not diabetic) try ice/cold packs. You might want to try something like Aspercream. It might help with the itching. Hope this helps.
