I want to start taking paroxetine for my panic disorder but it is it safe as I hear it can induce a LQT. Is this true or not?

Kudos, on your concern about health risk, when it comes to your body.
The only time this medication can become a problem, is when it's taken excessively.
Can I suggest something. Organic Juice consisting of yogurt, strawberries, bananas, oranges. Blend all ingredients with apple juice (100 percent) as a liquidator. Along with the juice, stress related vitamin(s) B-12, Ginseng, GABA, Gingko Biloba. In the evening chamomile tea, taken with Ashwagandha and Valerian capsules.
Primary Target - Increase both Dopamine and Serotonin nerve cells to your Brain.
Dopamine plays a key role in addiction, mood, your ability to learn, memorize and make decision. Serotonin plays a key role in mood, appetite, digestion, and emotions. Both works hand and hand as chemical messenger to the Brain. A lack of it, can cause emotional and physical problems.
Hi, Andrew!
From PubMed, the National Library of Medicine:
"Based on current literature, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, and sertraline appear to have similar, low risk for QT prolongation (LQTS), and paroxetine appears to have the lowest risk. "
From the Drugs.com literature:
"Uncommon (0.1% to 1% of users): Convulsion
Frequency not reported: Seizures"
"Rare (0.01% to 0.1% of users) Thrombophlebitis, thrombosis"
It seems that these side effects are fairly uncommon/rare with paroxetine.
Best regards and I hope this helps.
Obviously, you'll be taking the medication as directed.
And as far as long term use if needed:
"To date, there are no known problems associated with long term use of paroxetine. It is a safe and effective medication when used as directed."
This quote is from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Take care,
