Tramadol is actully did some good for me. With disk degeneration disease , arthritis and 6th vertabra lumbar yes there are people out there that has instead of 5 vertabre a sixth 10 percent and I happen to be one of them! Tramadol is a type of codeine actully read about also basically has an brother so to say to it its called nucynta that actully has a small dose of opiate in it and does same thing as tramadol I did like the tramadol and it did work but gave me extreme axenity and the Nucynta didn't do me any good but mite work for someone else goo luck!
Yes, I have the extra vertebrae as well, when it flares, holly cow pain, pain, pain. I didn't even know I had it until a few years ago, one very cold icy winter night, leaving the gym hot and sweaty, took a hard fall right on my tail bone. Went to Dr had to go to pain management center for epidural, that's when they said you are one of the rare people with extra vertebrae. My back was so swollen the pain injection shot right back out. So now I have a problem with it swelling from time to time. Suckie.
Yes of course theres bunches more pain pill types much stronger than norco. Trouble is if your old as me 71. Norco10-325 is all I can get from my pain Dr. In my state too many people are dying from drug abuse, and the number one drug thats killing the poor folks is hydrocodone. One would think
oxycontin or percodan would be the killer. I have a theory that some are OD'ing because they are under treated for their pain. So they mix other bad stuff with hydrocodone and it gets them in trouble. Just an old dudes theory folks thats all.

There are alternatives to opiates like norco, vicodin, codeine, oxycodone, tramadol etc... There are NSAIDS like ibuprofen. Depending on the kind of pain you have something like neurontin that works well for nerve pain could help. If I were you I would be very wary to try another opiate/narcotic. It's kind of like an alcoholic that is now sober who's drink of choice was vodka but decides to drink beer. It is a very dangerous slippery slope to put yourself on. My suggestion would be to be honest with your doctor about your addiction and concerns. Going to a pain clinic may be a good option for you as well. They are very experienced in treating pain without narcotics/opiates. I'm sorry that you struggle with addiction. It must be very frustrating to be in pain and not be able to take the meds that may bring the most relief. Sincerely-Taller
I just thought I would add to this comment as being factual personally I had to come up pain medications three times and it was not fun you have help for about two and a half weeks sometimes less but then it's over foursome some may take a little longer so trying to lower and take less of the pain medication early on is always helpful. It is hard especially when they give you strong pain medication which have a heavy impact on your receptors and heavy use can have an adverse reaction on your receptors working effectively to help with any pain issues.
Hi, Virtually all prescription pain meds are narcotics, I am dealing with exact same issue and it's not fun. Good luck and you shoot me a pq if you would like to talk more.-KCG
