Saw the doc finally, and he is checking my vitamin levels. Also gave me lidocaine cream. Never heard about this for neuropathy, but hey, at this point I'm willing to try almost anything!!

Yes, I have the same problems, it started in my feet 2 years ago and I couldn't wear sandals anymore. It has slowly moved all through my body. Burning, itching, tingling and I always feel hot. Everytime I go to my Primary Care Doctor, she only would want to prescribe something. I changed doctors and he took different blood work and sent me to a Hematologist/Oncologist, I couldn't get an appointment for 3 weeks, so of course between me, the computer and the numbers that sent me there, I was sure I was dying. She took 7 more vials of blood and is sending me back to my Primary care who is supposed to refer me to a Neurologist. I think I might try juicing and Gluten free. I feel it is what everyone on this site is talking about. Any suggestions? Thanks, Judi in Florida
Hi i suffer from neuropathy because of back issues and the dr has me on cymbalta and Topamax. Some days those fail to work. I have to get my kids to beat my calf muscles with theur fist to get my legs to relax. Lately i do have itching especially on the side of my left leg:thigh. I had the same irchibg when i was pregnant with my son and the dr said he was pressing on nerves so all i can figure is the nerve going down my leg is being pressed on again from a herniated disc. I cant take Neurontin it made my heart stop beating several times and lyrica worked tge best but tgey had me on 600mg the highest dose and it got to where it wasnt working and i gained 35 lbs. Im on the last thing they have. Lately my left leg has been swelling. I did try a lotion called Two old Goats that seem to work some but not always. I can go to bed and wake up later with my legs all worked up and hurting.
Omg! Sometimes my 2 middle fingers on my right hand itch so bad-on the inside where you just can't get at it. I have type 2 and it started in my feet then my right hand, now the left. Another sufferer said to put hot sauce and it seems to help, but if you touch your eye you will surely forget about the itch. I use a lightly textured surface or object like a rough fabric, something that won't hurt, and vigorously rub it to cause friction which I can feel on the inside. It is MY own belief that this is caused by the demise of those tiny fragile nerve ending from the diabetes, because when the itching stops I also lose a bit of sensation in the area, and my fine motor control has been getting worse. If this sounds familiar I would be interested to hear your experience or suggestions.
I was diagnosed with Neuropathy in my feet and legs about 2 weeks ago, before I was diagnosed my feet and fingers would (and still itch) I have burned my feet by rubbing them on the rug. I have numbness and tingling in my feet an hands, i am not diabetic. I could use any help. the itching started about 10 years ago the numbness and tingling started about 6 months ago. I will say the itching is the worst I have every felt, when my feet start itching, it can last for 45 minutes, i just want to cry...
I have diabetic neuropathy, it started in my upper arms and now is in my forearms, feet, hands and various other parts of my body… The itching and the burning is so intense… But what I found that helps a great deal is "Vitamin B complex"… You have to use it in large doses, but there is no adverse effects to taking too much, because it just runs through your body, you urinated out the excess, I started with 3 to 6 vitamin pills and worked my way either up or down depending on the results!… It's it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to start working... But this is the only thing that I found that works, and yes it does work!… I have tried Neurontin and various anti-itch cream's including Capzasin and got no results… The Capzasin did slightly but the intense burning of the product was just too much for me to bare… So anyway I just thought I'd share that the vitamin B complex really really does work...
If any one has any other suggestions, that aren't already noted in this post, "Please let me know" also if any one knows of a preventative... This would also be of use! I have type 2 diabetes and keep a careful watch on my sugar... I actually control it with my diet at this time, so I feel it isn't due to that... But I was reading and I noticed that someone else had fibromyalgia And was wondering if it could also be a symptom of that? I've never heard that before but like I said I believe I read that earlier in this post? Please let me know!…
Go to Walgreen. Find Neuragen. ( cream) It's in the diabetic products. It smells intense but works. It eases the pain and itching. Also at wal mart. dr Scholls diabetic socks. I cannot sleep without either one!! Good luck!!
My wife has Neuropathy really bad it hurts to get up in the morning and shes in pain all night and day. what are the side effects to this problem
My wife has had Neuropaty pain for several years. I could not bare seeing her suffer. I looked far and wide. Tried a few things which did not work. Finally came across a product that worked. The product is Neuracel (they offer a free sample on their site) which worked for her the very first time she took it. It may take a little longer for others, but it does work. I am so thankful that she is no longer in pain. I hope this helps those of you that are also in pain from neuropathy.
I have severe idiopathic peripheral neuropathy my feet burn cramp nerve shooting pain. I have been taking lyrica for 2 years now. They started real low 75 mg then I looked it up on the internet and it said they come in 100 mg, 200 mg, and 300 mg up to 600 mg per day. So I thought the lyrica was sort of working so my PCP upped the dose three times now I am taking 600 mg a day the highest amt you can take and the stabbing nerve pain is gone my feet are numb all the time but I can deal with that. I have degenerative disk disease too up and down my whole spine and fusions in my neck two surgerys later I am kind of out of pain in my neck but bulging disk in 4 places up and down my spine. I swear my back issue is why I have the neuropathy but my PCP said it does not have anything to do with my neck. I did finally find a back Dr that said it could have something to do with it. I take 50 mg pain patch of fentyal but still have break out pain so I take about one Vicodin a day.
In the middle of the night sometimes I wake up, bolt out of bed in pain but I take Vicodin then. I heard about this new drug "Neuracel" and want to know if anybody heard of this maybe I would get relief? I take cholesterol medicine does anyone think that could be hurting me? I just want an answer I don't want to live for 30 more years with this pain. I am 58 now on SSD. I WAS A very successful HR benefits manager making good money two girls stressed all the time. Now we are taking care if my grandson. So it could be related to stress. Just need answers maybe I should go off of everthing and see if it could be the drugs I am on. Please someone give me any advices? In pain all the time. Signing out
My Mother has Neuropathy and she is bed ridden from last 3 years.. she can move and sit from the upper part of her body but can not lift her lower portion and bathing and toilet is done on the bed. PLEASE advise any thing for h er... she is deep pain
I recomend B VITIMEN COMPLEX WORKS WONDERS , ALSO FOR PAIN AND BURING IN FEET RUB WITH VICKS VAPOR RUB
WONT CURE BUT WILL HELP
Hi msfino,
I also suffer from neuropathy, and it is far and away the worst symptom of fibro I have. I can take the muscle pain, and all the rest of it, but neuropathy makes me feel absolutely terrible, and can keep me homebound at times... many times!
I also have that itching as well. I use baby oil (Oh those poor babies, how DO they squeeze the oil out of them?!) and it helps, yet I wonder, like someone else said, if the action of rubbing it in relieves a little bit of neuropathy? I know that sounds weird, but it could be the massaging that helps, just as someone mentioned.
I have Capzasin cream, but am too lilly-livered to try it, so afraid it will make it worse, yet I bet nothing could make neuropathy worse, there IS nothing worse than that type of pain, in my opinion.
I was reading just a few days ago, about neuropathy and evidently, the nerves and blood vessels are involved, I knew nerves were the cause, but not blood vessels!! Did you know that blood vessels are involved?
(sorry if I'm being redundant, but this pain is newish to me, last two years)
I saw a neurologist twice about neuropathy, and he said "Every single symptom you have is caused by Fibromyalgia, even the neuropathy"!!
I couldn't believe it. Stunned was I. (said Yoda) So stunned, that I sat there with my mouth agape, looking quite feeble.
I cannot even think about dealing with this for one more day, let alone TEN YEARS!!! If you've had it that long you probably are well versed about it, and can tell all of us how to deal with it. I should be asking YOU the questions about neuropathy.
The itching gets a bit better if I take Benadryl (Off TO BED) at night, but it knocks me off my feet, and asleep I will soon be, or snoring away in my armchair. Which is a drag. Benadryl does help though.
None of the meds listed have given me any relief, not lyrica, nor neurontin, nothing.
IF I ever get the nerve (pun intended) to try Capzasin cream, I'll let you know.
I may even try it today.
Mine is caused by pinched nerves in my neck, but that's just my opinion, unlike what my neurologist said. My primary guy also thinks it's nerve compression. But I REFUSE to have surgery on my neck.
Best wishes, and try baby oil and Benadryl, but only try benadryl IF you are not on a bunch of CNS depressants. Benadryl is also a CNS depressant, or so I'm told. Capzasin lotion is not a cns depressant, so we can give that a try, even though it's made from HOT PEPPERS. Sounds horrible, and I will not try it right after shaving my legs. (can you imagine hot pepper sauce on just shaved legs, I most certainly cannot)
Best wishes msfino,
Ondi
Enjoyed your comment. Very insightful as well as informative!
Maybe that's why physical therapy-ultra sound for my tendons helped my periphial neuropathy- It helped just a little- but it helped tremendously during the second course of PT. When I went in-they asked how I felt and I told them that I wanted to blow my feet off- get amputated at the knees-since mine is fairly localized. I don't have too much trouble with my hands and arms, but the crawling skin-burning-tingling sometimes went into my back.
Well Ondi, the capsasian didn't work. Still waiting to see if there is help from the coconut oil. That makes sense sort of, at least for me as I have trouble absorbing fats, so maybe my skin can absorb the fats necessary for the vital breakdown of vitamins A, D, E, and K in my system.I'm just sick of the pain and itching brought out by a change in medication which I wasn't absorbing at all. I had NO IDEA how badly my feet hurt me!! that was a real shocker to me!! Now, I am hoping that they will cool down so to speak, and go back to where they were,, but I have to say that this is by FAR the worst I have ever felt with fibro, back pain EVERYTHING that I deal with. THis one could drive me nuts, literally!! I have to remember NOT to scratch, because that just irritates the nerves, and makes everything worse. So hard not to do as it is a reflex, not deliberately done.
I have had Fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis also Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis for over 10 years now. I just don't know what to do or say anymore about it except that I have just about had enough of it all.
I call Fibromyalgia the DEVILS Disease because there's no other pain on Earth like it. The Fibromyalgia has even caused a type of Arthritis that has ate part of the bone between my right cheek and ear away. I couldn't believe it when the Consultant in Maxillofacial told me. He said that if I was in better health he could operate. But it is MAJOR SURGERY, so that is out of the question for me.
Fibromyalgia can give you pain in every part of your body, even if there isn't an injury there.
Fibromyalgia isn't classed as Terminal, but it can speed up your death in the long run because of the pain and stress that it can cause.
I have 2 Heart Valve's that aren't working properly but no Surgeon will do the operation because I wouldn't survive it. I only have 1 lung working properly, my own fault perhaps because of the smoking. I have Angina, a 17 cm Haitus Hernia, Umbilical Hernia ,Diverticulitis .
I have numerous other medical problems going on but I can't go on about it all.
I have tried just about everything that my Pain Management Doctors and I have come up with, but nothing seems to be working any more.
At the moment I am on pregabalin and the Butrans Patches along with Paracetamol for the Fibromyalgia pain.
Have tried all the creams that have been mentioned, but they don't help anymore. Have had Depo Steroid injections in the top and bottom of my Spine,.Acupuncture, gone to Mindfulness.Im just at a loss now at what else to try.
Oh , if only someone could come up with a way to stop the Fibromyalgia Pain i could cope with my other Problems.
If anybody out there have got any ideas about anything else that I could try, I'd give it a go. Ill try anything. I know that I am a Complex Person, but there has to be something out there that can help. It's just a matter of finding it.
Fibromyalgia just has to be the worst pain imaginable.
Hope someone can HELP. ?.
I had stem cell therapy in Colombia (the FDA cripples this industry in the US). It seems to have helped a lot of people. It takes 2-3 months before it starts working and I am in month 1 so no relief (hopefully yet). I just figured I would throw it out there for something to look into.
Ellen, I don't have anything more to add, other than I wanted to wish you well, and I hope you get to feeling better soon. You sure have had you're share of problems. I'm sorry you're going through this. Take care hon, and will hopefully talk to you soon. Ruthie
Ruthie, don't we all have our share of problems? That's why I can trust several people here to share good advice and support!! Thanks for caring. :)
Well, I'm not knowledgable about a whole lot, although I learn more and more from this site. But I sure help when I can. And sometimes, even if you don't know the exact answer to the question... you can give you're friends love and compassion, and that right there can make a person feel better in some way in itself. Feel better soon, my friend. So you're son can take you on another night out on the town, and you can tell me about it. :) Love, Ruthie
I have diabetes an pain in my heels I was wanting to know when u have this does only your heels hurt they also burn
You can also try capacin cream and see if it helps. It creates an intense burning for a bit and then everything will calm down. Rather like overloading the nerves and then they stop, firing.
My neuropathy came from a 105 fever and organs shutting down. Still, it was worth waking up. lol
Thanks for the idea! I will try that too!
Have had neuropathy for 22 years. Tried many meds and finally settled on Cymbalta which made my feet feel like velvet. For me it was a Godsend. I am now on generic Duloxetine because of the cost. works fine. Numbness has traveled from my feet to my knees which of course has affected my balance . my fingertips are all numb as well. But I must admit the pain is manageable now compared to before. Try to control your environment, who you see, ,where you live and take on no problems you don't have to. these things all work on your nerves. This was my doctor's advice when I was diagnosed at the Sansum clinic.
Here's my 10 cent worth. I was diagnosed with Contact Eczema about three years ago and, most recently, with Neuro Dermatitis. Nothing prescribed by Dermatologists, creams or pills, has worked. I'm in hog heaven since a doctor at the ER prescribed me Doxepin HCL 10mg Cap once a day, before going to sleep. I also use a gel I buy at CVS for sunburns; it contains Aloe and Lidocaine. The itch will not go away permanently, but the time it actually works (4-6 hours) makes my day. The bottle is in clear plastic and the gel is blue. My CVS gel goes with me everywhere. With the aforementioned combo I'm able to sleep up to four hours at a time. Don't tell anyone but, I've managed to get my primary doctor to prescribe me Prednisolone, five tablets at a time. When I use it, I can go two weeks with almost no itching. Good luck!
Again-try ice packs for periphial neuropathy. I was told that the ice would only help my tendonitis and muscle damage, and it would take months to help. It did take months to help-but it's also working on my neuropathy-Another factor might be CoQ 10. Last month I ran out before I got my SS money, and the neuropathy flared up again, but I know that ice helps quiet down small flare ups during the day. I find that hamstring stretches helps. I've been told that neurontin/gabapentin works-but I can't take it. I need it in case my RSD flares up again. This might sound nuts-but if I don't get enough sleep-I have more trouble with the burning and creepy crawling feeling in my legs and feet-Sometimes it goes up into my hip area. My left leg has the worst neuropathy, while my right leg has the most muscle damage. Ultra sound in physical therapy also helped a whole lot.
I don't think that it's a coincidence that I had dramatic reduction of burning crawling skin-after a few weeks of PT. Then have it almost dissapear during my second bout of PT therapy. Ice messages help a lot. I need to go to bed- Maybe the CoQ 10 will help-it's something that nerves need to function-and many of the meds we take today mess with the process of maintaining nerves. My problem is from statins for cholestral control--- bummer For what it's worth-I have olefactory hallucinations now. I smell gas all of the time and I keep checking the stove and water heater- Good luck-maybe the massaging from putting on coconut oil is what helps-many cultures use olive oil.
That is very interesting, Meyati, because I had just realized about a week ago that I had run out of Ubiquinol!! ( the end product of CoQ10 for people like me who can't absorb). I have just gotten a new bottle a few days ago, and started taking it again. It may not be a coincidence that it got so much worse in the last few weeks! I'm still working on the coconut oil too! BTW, how does PT help with demylinization? ( sp?)
They say the ultra sound and whatever they call the electrodes in physical therapy helps remove scar tissue. My ankles and calves were hard and painful from scar tissue caused by dying muscle tissue. It also was affecting my kidneys-processing dead muscle cells. I couldn't hardly walk at all. I couldn't drive at all. It was from statin toxicity. When I returned for my second course of PT, my left leg and ankle felt almost normal-it had improved on its own. I think that the improved circulation, Coq 10, ice, etc. worked together to help reduce the symptoms of periphial neuropathy. I still get flare ups- but mild-and not so long lasting. I think that ice is a major key, but I know that I'm not having the overall pain-I now can get groceries in my house without hiring help, etc. I do think that the better circulation caused by rejuvinating the muscles helps reduce my symptoms of crawling skin, burning skin, unrelenting pain, twitching, etc. I hope this makes sense-but I'm getting better.
Thanks for the info!! I will definitely give PT a try, even though it is NOT barely covered by my insurance... UGH!!! Would they rather pay for an electric wheelchair, and someone to help you full time?? It makes no sense that they don't pay for preventative care, but that's another story.
my problem was caused by preventative care-But I understand what u R saying. Son's friend was in wheelchair for diabetis. He petitioned and begged for amputation and prosthetic feet so he could walk. Now that his muscles are completely gone 5 years later-they're amputating him at the knee. Because of the damaged tendons-I want an amputation and prosthetic feet-they're paying for PT anyway. Part of the symptoms is extreme fatigue-I wonder how much of the fatigue is caused by pain in many parts of the body-and dead body cells from the statin. The FDA and much of the medical community won't address this. But it's nice that I have days-sometimes- hours and hours of not having periphial neuropathy. My sessions cost about $1,300 for the month. I paid $200. You can go online for Achilles tendon and buy the kit with the electrodes-gel-ultra sound-professional atheletes buy them to keep their ankles going-mostly basball players.
They stand for hours and then have a few moments of activity that pulls the tendons, sprains ankles-then during the off season-they might not want the world to know they pulled muscles or sprained an ankle. These kits cost about 5-6 hundred. PT and my doctor are writing up my records for more PT when I request it-but I've almost reached my insurance limit. Sometimes I feel like I should just move my clothes and earrings to the PT clinic--
Hi meyati:
How much CoQ10 did you need to take before you began to notice a difference in your neuropathy?
Since your post was made in 2012, you may not see this; so I hope someone out there will be able to give me some idea. I'm( pretty sure this information would be helpful to a lot of people.)
I had UNBEARABLE itching on my feet. 3 years ago I started accupuncture and he totally stopped the itching - I got 3 years out of it - I'm going back again!
b vitiam complex are the best to try take 4 to start then 2 twice a day helps
me a lot
Olefactory hallucinations oh my in 1999 had a bad car accident I cannot smell hardly anything good but I can smell diesel fuel trucks and strong weird things. I figure olfactory area has some connection but not a soul has mentioned olfactory all these years
Concerning itching with diabetic neuropathy it just hit me two nites ago . It itches so bad ya wanna cry. Many yes ago I read a diabetic Drs book from CA in it he told of a special cream way back then in 80s that relieves neuropathy so I am on a hunt for that name will let ya know when I find it.
yes, I do have neuropathy in my feet, I use a native remedy of applying coconut oil over the effected parts of my legs it cures it some bearable point where I can doze off to sleep, during work I do keeping presssings my legs but the day passes as one gets busy doing work at one desk.
Take care, try the coconut oil therapy it has no side effects, none in the least.
I have plenty of coconut oil, and I WILL start trying it tonight!!! Thank you for giving me a usable idea, Rajive. BTW, I hope that your foot is doing better!!
Thanks a lot do try the oil it will help, my foot is better than before, it bled 3 days go, whereby proving that the blood circulation is reaching the effected parts of my leg.
Thanks & take care, do keep me posted if you get relief from applying the coconut oil.
Rajive, glad to hear your foot is better. I have not commented further on anynew treaments tha my brother has received as now thaey belive he has lymphoma, & still is fighting the hospital acquired MRSA. They believe this was the wound problem on his lower legs, & are using antibiotic therapy at the moment. Sorry to butt in your question Ellen, but I have neuropthy too, but never have had the itching feeling before. Coconut oil sounds like a pan! Good luck with it & keep me posted if it works or not. Good day to you both. (or evening with Rajive)... Mary
That was, sounds like a plan, not pan! Hope this helps & let me know... Mary
Mary, sorry about your brother, try the coconut oil therapy it has proven to work, & the best part is it has NIL side effects, Amen.
Take care, best wishes!
So glad to hear the GREAT news about your leg!!!
Its all because of the well wishes of friends like yourself, take care, best wishes!
I have the awful itching in my hands and feet (very rarely feel pain) and I take Benadryl; which helps. At first it will make you drowsy, but as you take it more often (unfortunately), the drowsiness goes away. The non-drowsy kind doesn't work as well, though.
I have neuropathy from chemo. Yes, I do use (gabapentin), but also use a roll on called Outback, cream called Pain Buster and Premium Hemp Cream all purchased on Amazon. Also, very good if you can get it is Neuragen at Walgreen. I believe in alternating, I feel the body is less apt to get accustomed to one particular type.
You know this may not be a case of neuropathy with the itching deal. I have and been diagnosied with neuropathy in my feet and hands and the pain in so much more severe than itching. This is a neurve disease that the neurves are destroyed to a point of no return. It's problems are Sharp Prickling painful needles and pins sensations, numbness, very sensentave, loss of balance... Itching is not a symptom of Neuropathy. I've had this for 8 years and will for life.and theres no itching. You have something else wrong. Hope you figure it out and maybe this was helpful. contact me anytime Treeves1
There are many, many types and causes of neuropathy. I have had this for over 10 years, it's just that the itching has gotten unbearable, along with the burning, and pain. I have severe absorption problems due to my good friend MRSA. It ate away my digestive system. But thanks!!
Mercy sakes! msfino hope you are ok and do figure this out!
The only thing I can think of with itching and burning is inflammation or infection. I would get someone to look over it thoroughly if you cannot.. sounds like its really bad and would warrant a visit to the doctor!
Don't worry, I have another appt. it's just in late, late Aug. Seems the man has NO OTHER openings until then. amazing, huh?
I know right.. well I hope when you get in there it all gets straightened out. I scheduled an hour appt.. the nurse said why an hour (they schedule in 15 minute blocks) I said cause everything is gonna be discussed and I have a notebook. She said uh oh and I said yea. lol!
have any of you tried BIOFREEZE?
i found this works on my feet and legs wheni get those nerve cramps and the nasty burning feeling in my feet expecially when i wake up with it.
i knwo its not available everywhere. there are different types of it but hteir no0t as good, less expensive types.
my sister in law also uses it for her fibro but she used something less expensive ( can't remember the name).
just a thought girls. it works wonders for me. i cna across it about a yr and a half ago at a massage session i got, the girl put it on me for the neuro and then i found it at a small drug store. now they carry it at medfast. i haven't seen it anywhere else. at frist you had to have it special ordered.
its worth a try for you if you have it liek i do, severly.
well just throwing a idea out there for all of you.
Lori
I got Biofreeze from my chiropractor, its not bad.. yes a little costy. Also The linament (white) sold online I use for all the elderly I worked with. Just type in your browser.. white linament to treat arthritis/ body pain. I get it for less than $15. I have used all grades of cremes and oils.. I feel I cannot get it far enough into the tissue to help but I do soak in the tub a few times a day.
I was just going to say my chiroprator has it!
Just curious, if you can't feel putting the BioFreeze on ( which don't we ALL own some??)does it help?? I tried the capsasian, and couldn't feel it at all until the next day when in-between my toes were on FIRE. This pain lasted TWO days in misery, along with the pain, and the itching. Not again!! Just wonder if the Bio Freeze will do the same...
It didn't help me!
I have neuropathy also and I Do have itchy feet... And sorry yes you can get itchy feet. Have not found found anything yet that helps nor my doctor.
I have neuropathy also and I Do have itchy feet... And sorry yes you can get itchy feet. Have not found found anything yet that helps nor my doctor.
It's maybe a nerve problem
I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy over eight years ago. Hate neurontin. Was on lyrica for many years and gained about 80 pounds. Did not help that much and slowly weaned myself off by cutting dosage gradually with the cooperation of my PCP who gave me pills of lower and lower mgs. Have been losing weight gradually.
I have itching. Shin area of right leg. Very annoying. Been subscribed cortison ointment which I do not like to use. Some do not think this "itch" problem is connected to neuropathy. I am not convinced that it is not.
However, I also have ruptured disks in my lumbar region that affect the nerve stimulation to the gastrocanemius of my right leg. So. Not sure why the itch. Not scratching my leg, which demands great self control, and applying Goldbond Lotion for Diabetics helps a lot.
Has anyone out there found good solutiins? Any solutions?
It depends on the severity of the progression of neurop. I have all these symptoms due to having a malignant cust on my tail bone. Had to have surgery 2 times to remove it. They had to remove most of the underlying muscle thus CUTTING THE NERVES all around the spine. I have exhausted all meds as they do not work. The itching is all over my entire body. It is due to the brain trying to process the sensations of all the pain and fine fiberglass hair like feelings prickling your entire body.
I've had non diabetic perpheral nuropathy for over 10 years ...
They say its idiopathic. ... meaning they dont know what causes it.
Two things help my pain, numbness and general discomfort. Nurotin and Xanax.
In able to move more easily with less pain.
In looking to live as close to a normal life as possible.
This combo works for me.
I disagree with you. I have severe itching in one place on one foot. Nerves are responsible for itchiness too, so a disruption such as neuropathy causes can certainly come out as an intense itch. Everyone is different and the thing that one person goes through may be different in someone else. I’m a nurse. Some of my patients would go through this at times. Please remember different people respond differently to disorders like neuropathy. People who have any sort of neuropathy need to see their doctors. Doctors need to be educated about this horrible problem.
My mom and uncle (both type 2 diabetics) both suffered with neuropathy. My mom was applying Thieves essential oil blend on her feet for added protection against colds, the flu, etc.. and something amazing happened- her neuropathy went away. She told her brother about it (my uncle) and he started using Thieves. His went away as well. I have no explanation for how this happened, I just know it did.
Ask your Dr for recommendations. For me, Tramadol helps a lot with this, but that is not true for everyone and I do not really like to take it. I have heard of Neurontin being used for this but that's another one I do not like, it makes me whacky and weird (much more so than usual). Hope this helps.
i have to g with you on thisd one Balbanese, i take tried the tramsol and the neurotin. i can't take either. its good ot knwo i am not the only onw out here who those meds make act really weird.
my dr thoiguht i was crazy when i told trhem how they made me act. i was like a drunk or soe, thing. slurring my words bouncig off walls.
she finally said discontinue immediatley,,, lol
there is absoultely nothin i have found but deal with it. sorry.
just one of the many things we people with neuro have to deal with.
i hope you can find somehting that works for you. maybe you will be one of the luck ones thats can take what Balba reccomended.
one up for you cause i liked your answer girl and your like me!!
I have found some relief with BioFreeze, I despise Neurontin, want nothing to do with any of those psychotropic med's... this problem of mine is with my skin, my entire body, head to feet. I've seen two dermatologist, PCP, so many times I've lost count and hematologist. My skin issue began over a year and a half ago. I don't think there's anything over the counter I haven't tried ... if anyone has any luck, please let me know. I'm female, 64 years old, hard a botched gall bladder surgery in 08, nothing in my life has been acceptable, anything near decent, since then! I am desperate!
Hi, not sure if we have the same kind of nerve itch, what I have started the end of Sept. 2013. As an AF veteran went to the Dermatology clinic at local VA and without asking any questions or any testing, told me I had nerve itching. There are times when I itch all over and then I can go 2 to 4 days with barely any itching. Then, that 4th night, go to bed, 2 hours later need a bathroom run and head itching like a SOB. I use Sarna lotion for my itching, which helps tremendously, so when head itches, I lather it with Sarna and within 10 or so minutes, the itching has completely stopped. I use it quite often, as I find that when really concentrating on something and my mind not on the itching, I don't itch, but if I am not really concentrated on something, I itch. And, I am sure we all know, it's worse at night. Have an appointment with my Dr. in December and we are going to have a long talk about this problem and that I need my blood tested again for every thing.
Also, something I learned on the net about "stingers". This is like a bee sting or even you might have stinging from a vein popping in your eye. Hope you understand what I have said, as I read on the net (and don't believe everything I read on the net) that if you are getting Stingers, you should call your Dr. immediately, as they can be very serious. Hope some of this has helped and look forward to more comments and questions.
I have found that the old reliable treatment for acute intense itching is Calamine Lotion' it would come with a different name in other countries I expect.
Lyrica has just about fixed my Neuropathic pain although makes me dizzy and confused at times.
I have had 100% relief from 50 mg hydroxyzine up to four times daily. Hydroxyzine is a potent hypoallergenic, OTC allergy meds do not work. Hydroxyzine is a prescription.
