I was vaccinating a patient and had a needle stick accident on my middle finger, I am currently taking PEP I would like to know what the percentage rate is of possibly having an HIV infection, I am not sure if the patient had HIV or not.

It has been found that the average risk of HIV infection after a needlestick injury leading to exposure to the blood of an HIV-infected individual is 0.3%. This means about one in every 1000 who are accidentally stuck will develop an infection

I suggest you wait and then get tested for HIV.
