Naproxen 500 not working for sciatica pain?

I’m suffering same problem. Naproxen is an NSAID (anti inflammatory) drug, will lessen swelling in the muscles, but nothing will work for nerve (sciatica) . That said, I was referred to a neurologist and received a steroid injection today and I’m without pain. I don’t know how long this will work, but anything is worth the try. Good luck!

I have the same problem and I am looking for answers. Advil works good for me but only lasts a few hours. The naproxen doesn’t work for me either .

I am 10 weeks post of from a spinal decompression on my L-4/5. I suffered unbearable sciatica in my butt cheek and down my leg. The surgery was a failure as my discs are reherniated but my new neurosurgeon put me on Celebrex. I have tried and used just about everything and I can say since I started the Celebrex 5 days ago, my life has changed for the better. I am essentially pain free! It's a miracle. I would ask your Dr. for a script for Celebrex. All the narcotics and muscle relaxers in the world don't compare.

Well all things considered you have but two options. One is find an Orthopedic Surgeon who will do the surgery to fix those discs and/or find a doctor that will prescribe some pain medication that will actually do you some good and yes I am most likely talking about a narcotic based medication, which in this day and age is not an easy thing to find available. Maybe one day the witch hunts will be over but for now getting medication for back pain is not the least bit easy.

Why not try good old "favorite" coated Bayer aspirin 325mg.
The ecotrin coating for Bayer is not designed for immediate release instead the aspirin is buffered for extending the dose of aspirin over a period of hours thus making the pain med less likely to upset your stomach.
Another Bayer product you might try is Back & Body. It's aspirin with caffeine.
If you do decide to try Bayer Aspirin keep in mind it to is an NSAID just Naproxen is.
Lastly, with any NSAID especially it's best to be taken with a good amount of water & with food.
